It's not EA's fault. It's people. When there is a billion dollar industry on games as service, dlc's and MT's then you would be stupid as a company to not try to capitalize on that.
I don't think anyone would have even noticed in a game like this. It's just that people have grown tired of all the forcing of it. I'm a minority in my country and even I have grown sick of the constant diversity thing.
I hope they'll take their time and it'll end up on ps5.

What have these greedy companies done with our hobby. Gone are the days when people did this out of pure passion of the art. Now it has become an industry where you put crazy sums of money into ads and stuff surrounding the product, but minimal efforts into the product itself.
Problem is that Sony don't own all of the ip's that made ps1 and ps2 successfull like Nintendo did.
That's pretty much my list too. I'm a big sucker for story telling. If they can make that in the same league as recent Sony games then this could be one of the best games ever.
