In fact it was Sony who started this slim trend, and it was successful because people bought a second playstation.

I agree Al , the playstation 2 rocked the exclusives, and for that it deserves the number one position (it is not my favorite, but objectively speaking it is hard to argue that it is not number one). But I have to give props to the Dreamcast and the 360 because they made online console gaming happen. Dreamcast started it and 360 perfected it.
hate the 360 all you want, but i have owned pretty much all consoles since the atari 500 and i can tell you the one I have played the most by far has been the 360. RROD aside it is my favorite console of all time period.
I know you sony extremist hate it but at the end i think it is because you are all bitter that Ms took such a huge market share from Sony. Just deal with it and rejoice on the fact that we have such a vibrant gaming community with so much great competition....

Sony should stay with the current system for a few more years. It still has legs and they have to make more money from it. If they do not profit, they might not have a reason to continue with the gaming division. I am not a fan of the Playstation3 but would hate it if Sony leaves the race. So i am all for Sony making lots of money (as well as MS and Nintendo).

I think this gen will take longer than usual. I would not be surprised if next gen starts in 2012 maybe 2013
Since the Playstation 3 is technically marginally suerior than the 360, i think Ms will probably be first.
If Kenect takes off, which i doubt, it might take longer.
If I were Sony I would stay with the Playstation 3 for at least three more years. It seems that the system would be able to handle it.

guess what I'll never stop playing for Xbox live, it is so easy to find and play with friends. You can talk to them while playing different games and watching movies. If you like playing with friends then its Xbox live. If you prefer playing alone then go for the free playstation experience.

the issue of exclusive conetnt is not what i was takling about. I was refering to the 360 being tapped out.
I think it is not, regardless of how many exclusives they have on the pipe line. If Sony has more upcoming exclusives fine, but lets just not mix those two very different subjects.

lets be honest for a second here, i know that you prefer Sony, that is fine and i respect that. But we all saw the demo of Gears 3 and it was a clear improvement on the other gears both graphically and how it ran on screen. It is obvious to me that when you have much better graphics and manage to incorporate a four player coop up mode with all that stuff going on at once in the screen, it is hard to argue that it is not a marked improvement.
