@Master of Unlocking

Finally someone who understands what I'm talking about. Yes the movie studios record at 4K and sometimes way higher resolutions but the final cut and special effects are produced at 2K. Which means the only option if they want to create a native 4K version is to completely redo special effects which would cost millions and I don't seem them doing this for any movie. Now maybe future movies that are still in the works will start producing the fin...

@BakPAin

Read my comment you sound so ignorant, I'm talking about the video that is burned onto the 4K Blu-ray disc not what the 4K Blu-ray player is doing. No dip a upscale won't look as good as a native resolution.

These movie companies are taking the standard Blu-ray video file and upscaling the video to 4K and then burning that video to these 4K Blu-ray discs. They couldn't be further from being native 4K videos which is why I'm saying...

For the hundredth time 4K Blu-rays are just the normal Blu-ray upscaled. I don't feel explaining why but read my comment history if you're interested.

While movie studios record movies at 4K and way higher resolutions, they create the final version in 2K with special effects at 2K. If they wanted to release these movies in native 4K they would have to spend millions to redo the special effects for each movie which is never going to happen which is why you are getting 4K Blu-rays with upscales of the standard Blu-ray version. Maybe newer movies in the works will finally start creating the final cut at 4K but until then 4K Blu-rays are pointl...

The problem is people like yourself who are acting like 4K Blu-ray playback is something to boast about when you don't even understand what the 4K Blu-ray format is. If you think buying a 4K Blu-ray gives you access to a native 4K movie you are gravely mistaken. A huge amount of 4K Blu-rays are just the original Blu-rays upscaled to 4K meaning putting in a normal Blu-ray movie into the PS4P which upscales to 4K will look the same. If they start releasing movies that came out before 2016 o...

There are a few games that will support native 4K on the PS4P though.

You don't need a UHD Drive.

90% if not more of 4K Blu-rays are just the original Blu-rays "upscaled" to 4K, you will hardly notice a difference between a 4K Blu-ray and a normal Blu-ray upscaled on the PS4 Pro.

For those that don't understand almost all of the big Hollywood movies are created at 2K and then they are upscaled to 4K and put on what they call 4K UHD Blu-ray discs. There is hardly a difference between most of these 4K Blu-ray discs and upscaling normal Blu-ray discs to 4K which is basically what the movie studios are doing yet charging you more than a normal Blu-ray disc. The only difference is the 4K Blu-ray disc is already upscaled while on the PS4P the software/hardware will be d...

Yeah finding out that hardly any 4k blu-rays are actually native 4k a couple months ago was more shocking than this PS4P news. Honestly I would rather just buy a much cheaper normal blu-ray copy that includes the dvd and digital version than buy a overpriced false advertised 4k blu-ray copy.

Well they have been claiming the most powerful forever so another year doesn't really matter, actually the claim itself doesn't even matter to begin with if we are talking about computer performance. I'm getting the Pro since it will improve some of the games I already own and future games but I still have no plans to get a 4KTV anytime soon. But games are what matter the most and I've only enjoyed a very select few games on PS4 since launch which is crazy since that was 3 yea...

Thanks for info, replaying SNES games never gets old. Now if only this would let me play the original PS1 Tony Hawk Pro Skaters that I would gladly buy if they were released on the playstation store.

Support is support, I wasn't talking about the quality of the support to begin with. Who does a lot of that shovelware come from? Western 3rd parties.
