Businesses don't care if fans are pissed or not. They only want to see the sales reach the sales target. If the sales don't reach the sales target, they will come to the conclusion that gamers as a whole don't want JRPGs, but want more FPSs. When that happens, gamers will have no one to blame but themselves.
I'm going to be playing Tales of Xillia and Ao no Kiseki in the next few months. How exactly do those two highly anticipated titles need saving? If there is anything that needs saving, it's the gamers for having bad taste in liking the awful FFXIII while at the same time ignoring truly brilliant localized games like Trails in the Sky. XSEED deserves better than this.
+1 bubble for you. And since we're on the subject of towns and story telling, I recommend Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. It's one of the few JRPGs in recent memory for me that actually delivers a good plot, towns, and elaborate NPC interactions. I do hope that more people would give this game a try then they will realize just how awful FFXIII is.
I for one will be getting Tales of Xillia in September which is not by Sony, but still PS3 exclusive. Oh joy!
That game is only my favorite JRPG released in the last decade. And it's developed by JRPG pioneer Nihon Falcom. Unfortunately, peoples heads are so far up Squeenix's ass that they refuse to play good JRPGs. Instead, they play FFXIII and think it's good when it's actually really bad.
It was an excellent choice to go with Ayumi Hamasaki. I would've prefered KOTOKO for what she did with Blaz Blue. Squeenix fans, however, prefer Leona Lewis.
MMOs are all about grinding, fetch quests, and this:

so no.
You will go into FFXIII-2 with an open mind and pay your $60. By the time you realize what a crappy game it is, SE will already have your $60 sale and vote.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...
I was just about to make a comment about Trails in the Sky, but you beat me to it. I mean, here we have an article writer who is writing about JRPGs, but has completely skipped Trails? That's unbelievable and sad. Sad because it has a higher quality than Radiant Historia and a much much higher quality than the recent FFs yet seems to be skipped by many people.
People need to put their money where their mouth is. If people want Tales of Xillia, then they need to buy, and get their friends to buy Tales of Graces f when it is released. Remember people, companies like Bamco don't care about what people say on forums. They only care about their financial statements. I for one will be getting both Graces and Xillia.
How about releasing in the west:
Tales of Vesperia (PS3)
Tales of Graces F (PS3)
Tales of Xillia (PS3)
This is Namco we're talking about here. They hate making money. If they're satisfied with minimizing profits, good for them.
It used to be the case that everyone would look forward to the next FF game from Squaresoft. When people ask for an FF7 remake, it gives the implication that the fans don't believe that Square Enix can make good FF games anymore, so they demand remakes of the old ones. It also shows the fans' lack of faith in Square Enix as a company.
Looking forward to Dark Souls as well as Tales of Graces F and Tales of Xillia. All published by Bamco. The huge irony.
BTW, nice name.
Still gonna skip this one. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice...
You know what they say. If you slap the name Final Fantasy on a piece of turd, it will sell millions and that is exactly what Squeenix is doing.
I'm sure Squeenix will simplify this game even more. Before, it was repeatedly hitting X,X,X,X,X,L1,X,X,X,X,X,L1, now it will just be X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X.
I'm gonna pass on this and save up for Xillia and Graces f.
Have a 640GB HDD in mine though it's possible to replace it with a 750GB HDDs or even SSD drives.
You can add to that list free online and reliable hardware.
Serves them right for trying to "westernize" their games.
Exactly. Some people don't seem to realize that it's not a technical limitation. If you look at the original Doom FPS for the PC, you could run really fast around enemies and shoot at the same time and that came out in 1993. the original RE came out in 1996.
