Dark Souls is GOTY.
I didn't know E.T. was superior to Super Mario Brothers.
Also, don't forget about Wada's right hand man, Motomu Toriyama who was responsible for the abominations that are FFX-2 and FFXIII.
I've gotten the same reaction from that article as well. The article writer is insinuating that Western writers can write better stories than Japanese Writers.
This article writer is arguing that the FF series should be Westernized to the point of having its stories written by a Westerner and having big name Western voice actors. A story written by a Westerner will contain Western values, and at that point, it will no longer be a JRPG, but a WRPG at its core. Can anyone accept FF as a WRPG? I know I won't.
I believe FF should take its inspiration from other JRPG competitors namely the Tales series and the Sora no Kiseki series...
This wiki gives a brief overview of the nine covenants. It probably contains some SPOILERS so click at your own risk:

The worst part is, even though the song is bad, the blind Square Enix fanboys will defend it no matter what.
I too, am glad I got the limited editions of those two games before they became rare. Atelier Totori, which is also published by NISA, will probably become rare as well.
Don't forget that Enix was also an amazing company for releasing the Valkyrie Profiles, Star Oceans, and Dragon Quests.
Now, Square Enix is an abomination.
FFXIII had a lot of problems that were so obvious that they shouldn't have existed in the first place. For example, a lack of towns, no respite, poor pacing, bad lines like "moms are tough", a combat system for noobs where you only needed to keep hitting the X button, extremely linear gameplay where you feel like running through a tube, summons that behave like Transformers, and characters who I did not care for at all. FFXIII is the only game in my collection that has made me f...
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
It seems that Namco has realized that the largest JRPG fanbase is on the PS3. They could have figured this out sooner.
Namco should consider that there is very little and weak competition in the JRPG space now. And I would very much like to see Tales of Xillia crush FFXIII-2 in popularity and in sales.
I recommend Tales of Graces f which will be released sometime next year. If that does well, we might get a localization of the PS3 exclusive, Tales of Xillia.
You exaggerate when you say "countless." Where are the Suikodens, the Breath of Fires, the Wild Arms, the Personas, the Grandias, the Lunars, the Seiken Densetsus, the Dragon Quests, the Xenogears, the Valkyrie Profiles on the PS3? Not a single one. And if you think FFXIII was good, you clearly have not been playing many RPGs.
Well that is a great score. I think the Tales series should usurp the title of most popular JRPG from FF. Not that it would be hard since FFXIII and FFXIV were pieces of crap. Remember people, when Tales of Graces for the PS3 comes out, buy it, tell your friends to buy it, and tell your friends to tell their friends to buy it.
Looking forward to this JRPG.
I believe that if Tales of Graces F sells extremely well in the West, the probability that we'll see a localized version of Xillia will be greater. If Graces doesn't sell and they don't give us Xillia, we only have ourselves to blame.
That $60 goes toward the $100000 salary for most developers. How much do you make? Do you think they are overpaid? You decide.
You sir have, what I call, "newness goggles" on which is the exact opposite of nostalgia goggles. Just because something is new doesn't automatically make it better. You're the kind of person who would blindly defend a Pentium 4 over any Core2Duo or Core i7 CPU that is derived from the older Pentium II architecture simply because it's "newer."
You also have bad taste for liking FFXIII.
