That Sony is running out of. Sony is lucky that Microsoft isn't really as interested in beating them anymore as much as they are in making their video games division profitable. If MS wanted to go for Sony's jugular, they could, with a $199 Core/Arcade, and $299 Premium $349 Elite Holiday Bundles. Me, I'd go for the jugular (even at a loss), but MS is more than content with how they are doing. The original Xbox couldn't get what? 20-25% market share last generation, and this generation th...
Microsoft owns all rights to HALO. Period. This might be an example of EA and MS working together, you all seem to forget that Peter Moore is a viable connection between EA & MS. Bungie won't mind, remember they want to work on something-- anything-- other than HALO. Well, at least until they lock themselves into a room with MS to work on the Xbox 720/HALO 4... one good sign out of this seems to be that Bioware would keep tight with Microsoft. They have a good thing going with Xbox, ...
NOVEMBER & DECEMBER for the PS3. I'm sorry, but that $399 40GB PS3 is going to have to sell a lot of units to get things going for Sony. The Spiderman 3 Blu-ray will probably do more for the PS3 than Uncharted or Ratchet & Clank, and that is sad. I'm still left scratching my head trying to explain why Heavenly Sword isn't selling. Sony is left in the position of having to hold on until their cavalry of MGS4, GT5, KZ2, & FFXIII arrives in 2008. I look forward to getting the $3...
EA is getting ready to make its OWN console. That's why they got their greedy little hands on Peter Moore. EA is clearly tired of working with/kissing the behinds of the console makers, this article definitely shows that. Who has more experience with starting up a new console than Moore? The way they are gobbling up big-time developers and with their own exclusives (Madden, FIFA anyone?), they could seriously wound MS, Sony & Nintendo. Either their own console, or maybe a merger with...
I haven't seen Sony fanboys this fired up in a long time. And they have reason to be, with the imminent $399US model, rumble coming back, MGS, FFXIII, GT5, & KZ2 looming in 2008. Still, even with all that, I wouldn't count out the 360 yet if I were you. MS is laying low and soaking in all of that HALO 3 goodness (Just started playing HALO 3 & it is amazing!!! 10 so far...) for Holiday 2007, and who can blame them? Trust me, MS will get back to business, and soon. Sony is going to...
Last year I had to get 4 360 games right @ X-Mas to catch up: Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas, Splinter Cell Double Agent, & WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2007. By the way, I rated those games 10, 10, 9, & 8.5 respectively. Great times, no? Well get this, this holiday looks to be even better for 360 gamers! I'll be playing catch up again, with Mass Effect (reserved), Call of Duty 4 (reserved), PGR4, & the Orange Box, with all receiving 9+ (heard COD4 may get a 10-- LOVED THE BETA!!) r...
This is the "BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE HISTORY OF G4?"
YYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW WWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN...
A show I watch for free in 1080iHD on NBC6 here in Miami... now I can watch for pay DirectTV 480iSD reruns of said show on G4... WOW, we waited weeks, for this...
Still love Layla, Morgan, Blair, Kristen, and Ms. Olivia....
Either MS has already locked up/is shortly going to lock up the exclusive rights to the Mass Effect trilogy or these upcoming MS/EA "talks" are something more sinister... thermonuclear... MERGER?
Like they said over and over in all of those 1970s American cop shows and blaxploitation movies, "Somethin' heavy goin' down in the streets, man, somethin' baaaaddddd..."
OK, I knew something was up when Peter Moore left MS for what looked at the time like a step backwards. Why EA? It never sat right with me, never made sense. They gobble up some devs, but no big, right, that's EA, the plodding 2nd Death Star of video gaming, that's what they do. But now this, Bio...
I had one Xbox sent back due to RRoD and one sent back recently for a faulty DVD drive. In each instance, I received a newer console within two weeks, as well as extensions to my Xbox Live account & free Arcade games. MS Customer Service has been aces for me. I remember when my brother's PS2 drive crashed on him and the hell he went through trying to get Sony to fix it. I think all major gaming console companies are much better these days at handling these issues than ever before. He...
AMAZING IDEA!!! Really, for real, no sarcasm. Love the idea of a third-person Halo game with some RPG elements a la Mass Effect. Maybe commanding a group of Space Marines way out in deep space, far into the future of the Halo Universe. It could be a completely new franchise/gameplay experience, but with the same amazing multiplayer we have come to expect from Bungie. I say Bungie takes some time off from Halo to flesh ideas like this out fully (as well as ask what true Halo fans suggest)...
...is that Bungie is going to stay tight with Microsoft. Did U see that hilarious skit on "Attack of the Show" yesterday with Master Chief telling Bill Gates at a bar that "we should start seeing other people?" That bit about Master Chief meeting "this British guy named Phil and this little Japanese guy" was hysterical! Anyway, 360 fans calm down. With Halo 3, Bungie has done all it can with the 360, and has rightfully earned its independence. MS owns the ri...
Just need a little confirmation... Does this 40GB PS3 come with the DualShock3 w/rumble (tried the Sixaxis and hated it) AND the Spiderman 3 Blu-ray BOTH PACKED IN? I am an Xbox 360 owner & fan-4-life, but I have nothing against Sony (or Nintendo, for that matter; competition is GOOD for all us gamers). A $399 PS3 with rumble and Blu-ray packed in (so I can play demos/watch HD movie RIGHT AWAY!) seems like a better deal than a $449 360 Elite w/2 games packed in, at least in a retail, no...
Forgot to mention that I would get $100 less in trading my 360 Pro for a PS3, so it would be $180 for the Elite after trade-in vs. $250 for the PS3 after trade-in. Plus, I love my 360, and would not want to lose it for the PS3. Maybe I'll trade for the Elite and sweettalk my lovely lady into getting me the $399 PS3 for Christmas... I have been a good boy....
Great response... bubble for you (not that you need any!). You are absolutely right... those bundles really ARE for those new to XBOX, not me, the dedicated gamer....
The rumoured Spiderman 3 Blu-ray pack-in? When I first read about this $399 rumor, it was mentioned that the upcoming Spiderman 3 Blu-ray would be part of the deal. In my personal situation, I am currently debating trading in my 360 premium for one of the upcoming 360 Elite bundles (with Forza 2 & Marvel Ult. Alliance) VS. getting one of these $399 PS3s. Trade-in means I pay $180 for the Elite, vs. $300 for the 40GB PS3. Xbox wins on the $$$ side of it. So you can see how a free Spid...
Bubble for you... I'm not sure if either of these bundles ALONE are gonna put Microsoft over the top this Christmas. Since I was planning to upgrade my 360 Pro to an Elite this Christmas, I'll make my comparison there. $449 Elite w/Forza 2 & Marvel Alliance vs. $399 PS3 w/Blu-ray & Spiderman 3(rumoured)? You make the call, but as a loyal 360 fan, suddenly I have a difficult decision ahead of me. I'm no blind follower; I am in it for the games, and you would have to have blinders o...
Very intelligent comments... the facts are that fanboys aside, DVD is still kicking the you-know-what out of BOTH HD DVD AND BLU-RAY. I look at the sales in the paper and DVD is more and more aggressive in lowering prices/offering consumers bargains. 300 moves millions of DVDs at around $15, while the HD DVD/DVD Combo sells 300,000 at $35 a pop? HD discs make up what, 5% or so of discs sold? That is staggering, and if business doesn't pick up (and fast), cheaper/faster internet is going ...
...but what about Paramount/Dreamworks switching to HD DVD? What about Shrek 3, Blades of Glory, Knocked Up, etc.? Paramount switching camps was a huge blow to Blu-ray. I have a 360 and the HD DVD player, but I have no problem picking up a PS3 (for $399 please) to enjoy blu-ray movies. However you have to admit that with all of those PS3s out there, they SHOULD BE killing HD DVD, but they're not. Don't think Warner isn't watching Blu-ray closely for more problems with its features (one of...
this is a huge win for HD DVD & Toshiba? Paramount rocked the known universe by switching sides over to HD DVD. Although Blu-ray still outsells HD DVD & still has the most studio support, the point of huge Transformers' sales is that HD DVD now has the backing it needs to stay in the fight through 2008 and maybe beyond. Even with major retailers "cheating" it shelf space & advertisement, HD DVD perserveres. Remember when everyone here was gloating that HD DVD would b...
