...consists of Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2 & Forza 3. I usually don't buy games after August until the holidays. Let's just say I have a lot of friends & family with birthdays starting in September, so all the gaming takes a backseat for me in the fall. Anyway, those 3 for me are the AAA releases, with Halo ODST, DJ Hero & Assassin's Creed 2 looking promising as well. Besides this is the best time to get serious deals on the games you missed out on earlier in 2009 or last ye...

...that either MS or Sony can afford a "brand new" console anytime BEFORE 2012 (LOL @ the "end of the world" reference, saw the new apocalyptic trailer for "2012" yesterday @ Transformers 2). I know that MS would be going for the jugular with a new console first again, but I think that would potentially blow up in their face. Sony is in NO position financially for PS4 anytime soon. Besides, wasn't it Sony talking about 10 year lifespans for consoles? Makes a ...

...if Halo's being milked then so is Madden and all the sports games, so is Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, and damn near every video game out there, right?

What's wrong with giving someone (Peter Jackson?) a chance on a new Halo story arch without Master Chief (Prequel? Sequel?) with a new perspective, say third person view? To expect MS to just move on after only three games is ridiculous, especially considering how successful the Halo games have been, critica...

...and if MS can pull out some major exclusives out of this deal, then maybe they go for it. Would love to see the next-gen return of Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, and Jet Set Radio (bubble for you 'ape007'--- memories...!), and as MS exclusives they could be big... Still, see this one as a major risk for MS. Why Sega when they could have had Bioware, or Pandemic, or 2K, or Tecmo, etc.? Why bother with Sega NOW?

...but I would like to see it in concert with some other moves by MS, like making the HDD standard by eliminating/revisioning the arcade (20GB HDD included?). Why not give us a break on the hard drive prices and at the same time introduce bigger ones to take over their price point? You could drop the 20GB to $49, introduce the new 60GB at $99, drop the 120GB to $129, and finally introduce a 200GB at the 120GBs former $179 price point. You would kill two huge obstacles for the 360 with one ...

...not a deadly one. Sony is doing well enough now to NOT have to respond to any 360 price cuts. Sony has the advantage of giving you more for your money, and that kind of eats into the gains of a price cut. Also, echoing the comments of my esteemed N4G colleague 'Action Bastard,' (bubble for you) the 360 price cut is way overdue.

Still, it will move more units for MS, and isn't that the point? Hopefully this move will clear the way for Jasper and Valhalla, the end of Arcad...

...a break on 360 HDD prices, to be honest. Would love to get my hands on the 120GB for $99 or less; I just refuse to pay $180 for it. I think its high time the 360 had an across-the-board price cut: $179 for Arcade (or just GET RID OF IT), $249 for Pro, $299 for new 60GB Pro, and $349 for Elite.

Love the idea of a new 60GB 360 HDD, but will we be able to buy separately from 360? And for how much?

...as much as casual gaming is a new expanding territory. Agree 100% with Captain Tuttle's comment (bubble for you) that the 125 million PS2 fans are among those buying Wii/DS instead of PS3s and Xbox 360s. I just don't see any next-gen $400+ gaming consoles selling 50 million+ consoles in the time provided before they would be considered obsolete, what 3-4 years? Hardcore gaming has priced itself out of the casual gaming realm, especially in this economy, and Wiis, DSs and even PSPs have ...

...MS is playing it safe. Agree with dcbronco (bubble for you) that MS may be wary of all the money being spent, and after FINALLY turning a profit on the 360, they want to continue to solidify their position, especially when you consider that the 360 will be three years into its cycle. MS has had enough bad press with RRoD and the lack of a standardized HDD etc. They know that this year Sony has a lot of big guns and they are going to counter as best they can, but in a low-key fashion. "I've got a bad feeling about this."

Agreed 100% that if we get no NEW MATERIAL on this game by E3, then you can write off 2008 and most of 2009 for its release. Damn disappointing, especially for MS, who could use all the AAA exclusives it can get this year... still, if Ubi Montreal can get it together, there's still hope for a knockout game... eventually... I do miss Sam Fisher....

It's been said here and I'll say it again... Sega needs to fix its own house before worrying about a new console. Get three or four million-plus selling game franchises under your feet, THEN get with AMD/ATI or NVidia or Intel like Horny Melon said, find a way to come up with a state of the art machine for $299, bu...

My brother just got his first HDTV, a 47" LCD, and it was a real treat to watch his jaw drop down to the floor just like mine did all those years ago on a cold November night in 2005. You are talking about people who have DVD collections in the hundreds and thousands, forcing them to upgrade when frankly most movie fans are satified with DVD could be--- would be disastrous. Blu-ray will just have to persevere until it cannot afford to compete with DVD on price, and by the looks of it, that is a long way off....
