I had that problem with my wireless PS3 and 2nd xbox with wireless adapter(original) When the N adapter came out better signal strength was received by the wireless Xbox 360 and less interference from other devices.
So looking back I was glad they sold the adapters separately, but now that N is available I think it should be built in.
Personally I think the slim is a rumor that will turn out to be something else.
