so many comments saying steambox will fail simply because its the "new kid in town" and because it has no brand recognition. That is the dumbest argument anyone can make.

How did Sony first get started out? Back when other big boys like Nintendo ruled the industry? How did microsoft get started out? Same way steambox is coming to a store near you.

You make a better product, offer a better service, dont charge too much and people notice.

so in other words we are bombarded every day by ads on tv, radio and internet... and our only escape (gaming) is now going to be bombarded too.

Its immersion killing shit and has no place in video games. We pay for the game. There are no commercials in the middle of a blu ray movie. They have no right to put it in the middle of gameplay.

Never take yourself to be the standard of anything. You wont buy it, I wont buy it, but there are tons of people who will.

They raised 8.5 million dollars on kickstarter for goodness sake. Thats 8 times more than what they asked for. And you are asking "who will buy it"?...

Clearly there is a big untapped market for the android console.

Valve is an amazing company that has really taken care of its customers. It can take away a lot of microsoft and sony's marketshare if it plays its cards right. it wont be the number 1 console but it can be a huge success if:

1. They make it the most powerful console at an affordable price (due to not needing blu ray. Just allocate the funds to GPU + CPU).

2. If they continue to sell games at such insanely low prices MS and SONY will be put in a very bad ...

Maybe motion control defined gaming for you, but it certainly does not for me. I dont like motion control the way it is implemented currently.

Efficiency is expected if you understand anything about how hardware works. Also i dont care about efficiency. I care about gaming. My PC sucks...

if you guys put the time you spend sitting in front of N4G comparing graphics for every multiplat game into working a few extra shifts, you could afford a PC that would always crush the competition in graphics.

I wish nintendo competed with Ms and SONY directly. Id buy their consoles as I like their franchises the most. But they are always so far behind...

Thats fine. I still disagree. Metacritic scores are not what I worry about when I play a game. It takes only a few years for the online community to completely die off for sony exclusives. Im sorry but that really sucks. If you have the best game on the market and 5 people play it... thats just sad. Its bad enough that we are all split across the many different genres of sony exclusives... But we are also split across games in the same genre?

Getting one for xmas. I liked what i saw when i tried playing LBP on it at my local gamestop.

i think they need to release less, further increase quality (its good now, but it can be amazing), and promote better. Hear me out before you disagree with me.

This would result in more people playing these games. Killzone and resistance should have been the same franchise with twice the budget and development power. It should have been the equivalent of Halo for PS3. Instead we got 2 games good games, instead of 1 amazing game, which split people who like scifi games in half...

Id like to say a couple of things in response to your post.

1. Nothing is idiot proof. PC building included. However, someone who hasn't done it before can do it within the course of a day by simply watching videos and following step by step guidelines.
