A sprawling FPS cyberpunk RPG, set in a sci fi neon dystopia a'la Bladerunner is EXACTLY the kind of game that makes perfect sense, probably more so than a flight sim, in VR. What on Earth are you on about? Projecting yourself into worlds that you could only live in your imagination is precisely the entire point of VR. The lack of imagination and shit talking on VR absolutely blows my mind at times. It really does.
You can get a HMD for $200. 200 for something that was science fiction not too long ago, and yet you're going to bitch about that? How much have you spent on shit, loot box infested bollocks the past couple of years? Bet its more than 200 that's for sure.
Reads like something I'd have written myself.
You forgot "VR is too expensive"
Oh, but your brand new iphone that you didn't need to upgrade with that costs a grand isn't? How about that 4k TV that's sitting half way across your living room that you paid 600 quid for because it has some brand new image quality gimmick stuck on to this year's model? VR in the past, was a pipe dream. A thing of science fiction. Now we have it, ...
No, not seeing your arms or body does not kill immersion fast. As far as your eyes and brain are concerned, you're still there.
VR doesn't need a "killer app". VR itself is the killer app.
LOL, seriously, this sort of comment is exactly why showing off VR on a flat video is next to impossible to showcase what it actually looks like to those that don't have enough imagination. I'll explain it to you in simple terms what it looks like: stand up, make sure your eyes are open, and take a walk around your room. Congrats. VR looks the same as that only with videogame graphics. You still feel like you are there regardless, and having no arms or body doesn't matter a jot be...
Bit of a contradictory comment to make, but OK. If you've never tried VR, but were dismissive of it, then that makes you a hater of something you don't understand yet. You have to try VR. It's not a gimmick. It is not a 3d TV you strap on your head. If you were on the fence, doubted VR, and had a chance to try something like this as you first time experience of VR, then prepare to have your brain blown out of your skull, and your bank balance emptied to get one afterwards.
If Valve have made the Index to specifically tailor to this game, and if they've put the effort into it, then this is going to be mind blowing. It should be like a bigger budget Boneworks, only set in the Half Life universe. While Valve are at it, I would absolutely love them to remake HL2 but with VR specific controls.
Oh, look - it's another one of those plebs that doesn't understand VR and how incredible it is. Let's shit on it, because I don't want to spend money on something that is trying to take a form of entertainment and media to the next level.
Now go ahead and reply with your obligatory "I've tried VR. I owned one and sold it. It made me sick and I don't like wearing a 3d TV on my head" response.
Take LoU and ME3 out of there and replace them with Doom and ME2 and you've a decent list there. Maybe replace ALTTP with something else (Resident Evil?) because Ocarina is in there for fairness and balance. When we talk about the greatest games ever, we're talking about games that not only were incredible for the time, but still stand up today, and have had a lasting influence on the industry as a whole. Games like TLoU just haven't done that. Decent enough game, but massively, m...
It's symptomatic of the industry as a whole, starting maybe as far back as the start of the previous generation, where the bar is so low in certain instances, that people will latch onto and applaud anything that comes along and is a moderate improvement over anything similar. This of course got a lot better in the previous gen, but this gen...oh, boy, oh boy. I'm not saying that Outer Worlds is a bad game, because I've not played it. It's just that Bethesda, like most other s...
Have a downvote.
Revolutionary? Phfff. Yeah, OK.
Living up to their name. The edgy bastards.
And I'll bet it's packed with nonsensical bollocks and all. Seriously, someone needs to remind this man of his profession. He's a game designer, not a Hollywood film director, or a wannabe one.
But sure, I'll get downvoted into the netherrealm for that one by fans of his that do nothing but lick his ringpiece any chance they have. Commence!
Some of these have already been remade,
It doesn't make him sound like a shill. It makes him sound like another clueless drone of a naysayer that wants to shit on VR, because A) can't afford it, or thinks its too expensive, and B) has never tried it.
