I'd love a full English breakfast right now. Can't get them or make them here. Even baked beans are hard to find, as is bacon and decent sausages.
Beans and sausages are hard to find? Where the fuck do you live?
True binaural 3d audio was introduced for the PSVR via its breakout box. When playing games in VR, 3d sound is even more important because,well, because of the obvious immersion aspect. Distance and direction of sound becomes integral to the experience. Having this built into the PS5 as standard is no surprise, given the emphasis for the system's VR capability.
I'd like to think so, seeing you have to sell an organ to buy one.
Just Ended the PC-Console War? What? What does that even mean?
Fanboy articles. Gotta love em for their sheer stupidity.
Or, you know, just buy a PC?
Phones are a necessity? What?! Millenial gen x mentality in a nutshell.
Is right. The other thing they fail or lack imagination in understanding is that a VR HMD is a display just like your TV or monitor, only far, far more versatile and immersive. Eventually you'll be able to put a wireless device on your head, with an FOV and clarity to such a degree that you can just have a 40 foot 4k screen in front of your eyeballs if you wanted it, just like your TV, only bigger, and in an environment of your choosing. The other bonus is that you could be doing this lit...
And then add to the fact they moan that VR doesn't have any AAA games. They get the mother of all AAA games and they still bitch. Couldn't care less. VR is here now. It's everything it promised to be back in the early 90s and then some, and its here to stay, and no amount of crying will change that. I mean, just look at Foxtrot as a prime example. Crying his beans out over a game he's been waiting for as if he's the only one waiting for it. I've been waiting for it too...
F*ck em, then.
I'd rather a dev take risks and do what they want, than pander to the lowest common denominator. I mean, just look at the state of the so called "AAA" space now. The recent COD fiasco is proof its f*cked and will only get worse. People want more of that boring, cynical shit? They can keep it. Meanwhile I look forward to see what Valve does with VR, as they seem intent on actually pushing this tired industry forward.
Not sure why you're getting disagrees for stating an obvious fact, but sure, that's this place alright. Gotta be that blind fanboy to get the agrees kicking in. It's not so much the HMD itself, though. HMD's are just essentially displays, but you're right about the controller. The major limiting factor of the PSVR is the Moves. Playing something like Alyx, a game designed to have high fidelity control mechanics and physics with the Moves will be like trying to eat soup wit...
Not to mention the slew of other really good VR titles out there. But sure, trying to convince naysayers is like banging your head against a brick wall.
This is true. The Move controllers and the PSVR's tracking solution work, but they are very finicky to the point where it'd be doing an injustice to a VR game that's supposed to be pushing the potential of what VR is. I love the PSVR, but I seriously can't wait for Sony to do away with the Moves and the camera on it.
This is pointless, and I doubt it'll see the light of day. When it comes to PSVR2, controller, lense, screen and other such VR specific feature patents are ones I'm interested in.
That happens in VR anyway.
@rockwhynot
Ah, this site. I swear. Absolutely clueless plebs on it.
No, it is not true VR. Couldn't give a bollocks how much anyone disagrees with me, it's not what VR is supposed to be. It's a nice little 3DoF attempt, and that is it. VR is 6DoF, very low latency, with your hands being represented. If you remove either one of these things, then you're left with jarring, or immersion breaking limitations. It's as simple as that. I thi...
@rockwhynot
That's not VR, or true VR. I'm sure it works well for what it is, and it's good they even attempted it, but VR is 6DoF or not at all. There is a common misconception with people who try 3DoF headsets like mobile phone style headsets, and think that's what it is. It gives a bad representation, and a false impression. The sooner 3DOF vanishes, the better for VR.
Why's it hard to ignore? I didn't even realise the thing existed until recently, and now that I know it does, I couldn't give a toss.
And you know what, he was more impressed than he's pretending to be, I'll tell you that much. This game, paired with this platform, is going to be a leap forward for the industry. Just a shame so many console, and PC only gamers will either refuse to accept or believe that, or just won't be able to access and experience it. No worries. All in good time. Just like the good old days of the industry again.
Only if it manages to recapture the atmosphere of the original Soul Reaver.
The headset itself already is roughly the same size as Quest, apart from the halo, which is what adds bulk. For me the halo design needs looked at. Yes, it does a good job of balancing the front end, but those pads also trap heat escaping from your forehead, leading to overheating, which can eventually lead to nausea. The diamond rubber coating also eventually flakes off.
