Sony actually got lucky. It was going to be 4gig of GDDR5, which by the way would still of performed better than 8 gig DDR3 which Durango has. They went for 8 as certain sized GDDR5 memory modules became available so they were able to increase. They didn't have to go back to the drawing board for a system redesign as it was cleverly engineered in the first place, incase these modules landed. For MS to change the "rumoured" specs, is not easy without a considerable delay. But mos...
