I just think with the current claims, (8K etc) that both will struggle to fit it into a sweet spot price point for mass purchase.

Well take the PS4 Pro, and the xbox one X as a benchmark. Didn't they launch between 4-5 hundred?
The only way Sony and Microsoft will hit a price point below £400 for these new machines, would be to absorb the hit.
