Agreed. More killer, less filler.
You're dead-on with why it isn't going to be a great system for families. I get the sense that, at least for the first year, they're going to try and target lapsed non-casual fans as early adopters...except that everyone in that group is just going to be thinking about how much their Wii collected dust before they got rid of theirs, and won't want to invest in this new one.
Between that, and how tough its going to be to educate casual gamers that the Wii U is ...
Exactly...the channel died the moment it was first renamed G4TV and they cancelled its flagship show The Screen Savers (among other programming). The only good show they never cancelled was X-Play, which is apparently the show the new owner bought the entire channel for.
If it's the NES version that was taken down, why do you have a screenshot from the arcade?
I'm an Xbox Live Gold member (have been for several years), and if the next Xbox console still requires me to pay for basic online play, I'm probably going to go with a PS4 instead (as will many of my friends).
The only reason I went with a 360 is because most of my friends had a 360, and the only reason so many of my friends had a 360 was because the core system has always been less expensive than a PS3. Granted, Xbox Live Gold technically makes the 360 more expensiv...
Capcom would end up creating five variations of the game over a three year period, and Nintendo Of America would release none of them in the US...
Except the original developers mostly all left Crytek UK soon after it was bought, making Crytek UK the same studio in name only (like Rare, where the original developers started before leaving to do Timesplitters).
I'd been thinking of writing about this kind of topic as well...I think instead of the false Hardcore/Casual dichotomy, we should be focusing on breaking things down to more specific subgroups like this (which I wouldn't call "stereotypes," but rather "gaming styles."
TimeSplitters 2 & Future Perfect.
So you completely missed the mention of Resistance 3 in the article?
For gritty reimaginings, you'll never beat SMB: The Movie. ;-)
I'm glad someone enjoyed that bit. :-)
The reason so many reviewers only use the upper half of the scale is explained here:

As to this more recent phenomenon where people are flipping shit if their favorite game gets below a 9? That might be down to the economy, where gamers are cutting back and only buying games release week if it score a 9 or above, so that anythin...
I did call them. While I was on the phone, he sent me an email with instructions on what to do, which included taking a photo of the receipt and disc. I didn't have my camera with me, so I didn't take the photo and email it off until later that evening.
Two days later, no response, so I sent it again.
Two days later (today), still zero response, so I asked if they could confirm they even got the photo. This time I received the standard canned messag...
There's now an update to the article.
But as to how you got a code without needing to take a photo of your receipt, when the rest of us are having to jump through that hoop? I'm calling bullshit there. That, or you got incredibly lucky with whatever rep took your call.
Thing is, all you have to do is go to Gamestop and buy it used, and you get the code printed right on your receipt. I wish I'd bought mine used rather than having had to deal with all this hassle and hoop-jumping
I just can't believe that, despite codes being given out for used copies, WB is still making purchasers of new copies jump through hoops when theirs is missing. Its like, really? Why not just make the DLC free for a month or two, rather than overworking your customer service people.
So you mean in the late '80s, when everyone had a Nintendo?
Thing is, it was announced *before* Borderlands, so you can't really call it a wannabe Borderlands.
As much as I'd love it to be Timesplitters 4, it'll probably end up being a 3DS installment of Donkey Kong...
