Also, the reason RARE stopped making good games...after everyone left.
Nintendo fans are "rejoicing" that preorders on the Deluxe set have sold out? Funny, all the Nintendo fans I know are either just relieved to have gotten theirs, or are complaining that they now have to preorder the basic one. Who rejoices about preorders selling out?
Blaming the victim much?
Exactly...you can't review a Beta, it should say "preview."
In complete agreement as well.
The correct way to use reviews is to find a reviewer whose tastes are similar to your own, by looking at their past reviews and seeing how in line they are with your own opinion.
Anyone who thinks they should be able to pull up any random review and expects that each review should be in agreement as to how good or bad a game is, as if its a scientifically measurable thing, is doing it wrong.
Once upon a time there was no such thing as patches, and publishers and developers had to ensure that they had gotten rid of all the glitches and bugs via thorough testing before the game was released.
Maybe pubs/devs should stop treating early adopters as beta testers, and then they've have better release day reviews.
Other than ACIII: Liberation, how many games can you name released in the last twelve months that have starred a black woman as a *playable* character?
That's why it matters.
Male characters a typically male power fantasies, and female characters are typically male sex fantasies. Creating more female power fantasies would bring in more women, but even just creating more female characters that aren't either damsels or sexy vixens would make the industry more welcoming. The issue with Lara is that she went from being a sexy vixen to a *playable* damsel, which while a little different than a typical damsel, is still basically just moving her from one box to the o...
Thing is, a new Timesplitters just wouldn't be the same without Steve Ellis and Dr. Doak. Without those two, there's almost no point. I'd rather this be a campaign for a Timesplitters Trilogy HD release.
Wow, someone finally revealed how its being done, and its neither a hack nor phishing! Amazing work on sleuthing it out sleuthing it out! I wish there was a "vote up" button here.
FemShep from Mass Effect and Jade from Beyond Good & Evil.
I like how a lot of people who complain that Nintendo focuses too much on kids and families are people who started playing the NES or SNES when they were kids on their family system. The reality is that Nintendo never abandoned anyone; they've always directed their consoles at families, and older gamers today are angry that Nintendo didn't grow up with them.
BATTLETOADS.
How has this discussion gone on this long without anyone mentioning that MS owns Battletoads?
"So your saying someone who doodles a stickman is an starting off artist...lol"
I'd call the author of XKCD an artist, sure.
I'm a professional artist, and if someone called themselves an artist because they doodled occasionally...it wouldn't upset me. Because they are an artist, because everyone starts somewhere. Were you always a hardcore elite gamer? Or like many of us, did you start playing on the NES or SNES, "casual/kiddie" systems?
The more gamers the better. If we alienate the younger or more casual crowd, they'll never bother to become serious gamers, and then videoga...
Interesting factoid: it's actually the ninth generation, but Wikipedia made a mistake early on combining two generations into one (the third generation starts with Colecovision, and the fourth generation starts with the NES)...and even though there are citable sources from the 80s referring to Colecovision as third generation and NES as fourth generation, Wikieditors are afraid to fix it due to how many articles would have to be changed. Funny stuff.
Great article!
Exactly, GameStop is a reliable source on what Microsoft is going to do how?
They're clearly doing it due to brand recognition, but it has the side effect of very easily leading to brand confusion. When you put a number after PS_ or Xbox_, people understand that its a new system, whereas Wii U has already had some people assuming it was just a new accessory (the controller).
It's going to take some extra work and marketing on Nintendo's part to get across to the casual audience that Wii U branded games will not play on a "regular"...
By comparing it to The Room and Rifftrax, you're saying Borderlands 2 was unintentionally funny, when it was very clearly intentional (have you ever seen writer Anthony Burch's webshow Hey Ash Watcha Playin?).
I think the problem you're having is that you're laughing at things that are so dark that you feel they shouldn't be as funny as they are? Take a look at the Wikipedia article on "black comedy." That's what Borderlands 2 is, black comed...
