So in truth, they haven't changed anything at all. They just pulled the "we are removing MTs from the game" stunt to get people to buy/pre-order their game. Then they'll re-introduce MTs again. Why am I not surprised? Once a scumbag organization, always a scumbag organization. The End.

Oh please. This is EA we're talking about. You really think they'll remove their cash cow completely without having some sort of insurance that they'll be able to recoup the lost potential revenue from MTs later down the line? You'd have more chance of flying to Pluto with nothing but your farts to propel you.

Publishers are conniving, greedy bastards. Give them an inch and they will take a mile.

Do people really think these gameplay-affecting loot boxes came out of nowhere? It all started because gamers accepted "cosmetic" micro-transactions. "Oh its no harm. It doesn't have any impact on gameplay". That gave publishers(and developers because they're not entirely innocent either) the incentive to slowly push the boundary towards things like what we...

Mockery from Activision-Blizzard over the anti-consumer policies of other publishers? HA. That's rich.

@Skull521 - The first AC was my favorite as well. It was like a very refreshing break from everything I had been playing up until that point. It was indeed repetitive, but I was intrigued until the end. Especially because of the riveting concept and storytelling they came up with.

Then they ruined it by going the soap opera route with the whiny and annoying Ezio. It was a huge bummer. (Newsflash - More gadgets does not automatically equal good game.) Kind of like when Capco...

"A game about attempting to survive the wrath of a captor long enough to send out a signal and get yourself freed could be very compelling"
But that would not be very "damsel-in-distress" y now, would it? Which was what your original argument was about.

"That doesn't address any point,"
It addresses your argument that games cater largely towards male players and, hence, need to be changed to "show progression"(in...

"Evidently you haven't played or enjoyed horror games"
Yeah because "damsel-in-distress" scenarios usually involve the victims shooting, cutting and mutilating the shit out of their captors, right?

"Women are not largely in control of the video game industry and are not largely creating these fantasies as games"
And the majority consumers of the teen-drama films, mainstream pop music, etc. are girls/young women. One caters...

Where's the bad comparison? I never claimed a like-for-like representation on the things I mentioned. No one plays the damsel in distress because the viewpoint of gaming usually is from the hero/heroine. That's logical. How much excitement can you actually extract from being tied to a chair and waiting for rescue? Probably very little. Anyway, my main point was that the author claimed the "damsel-in-distress" scenario was misogynistic and dangerous. I'm simply trying to ...

I disagree with everything. Especially the last part. Because depending on the context of the storyline, I may or may not enjoy a "damsel-in-distress" situation in games. That may be horrifying to hear for the Anita Sarkeesians of this world, but it is what it is.

For example, rape is a thoroughly disgusting and despicable act in real life. So why is it that almost every so-called Women's sex studies have listed "rape" as one of the more common sexua...

Edito - You don't like killing digital animals, and yet you probably have no problem mass murdering digital humans. Rather twisted "morals", don't you think?

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with having compassion. Its just that if you're being compassionate about one part, you have to be compassionate about every part. Otherwise you're being a total hypocrite.

And by the way, its a video game. So relax. No one is a...

"Atmosphere"
Is it like that one time when Microsoft (or was it Sony?) were arguing that 30fps was better than 60fps in-game because "30fps looks more cinematic"? LMAO.
Or that one time Heavenly Sword fanboys were arguing that it had better graphics than Crysis because of 'several reasons' that they "refuse to name at this moment in time"? LOL

I imagine the people that already bought loot boxes with real money are banging their heads against the wall as we speak. LMAO.......

IMO, he never found it funny in the first place. Why would he? He was simply being sarcastic and/or mocking the overly sensitive SJWs and PC crowd that love to cry at the drop of a hat. Anyway, why this is considered newsworthy is beyond me.

I had no interest in playing Bayonetta-type games and I thought Nier was in the same bracket as mindless linear hack-and-slash shit. But after playing it, I found it surprisingly fun and interesting. Maybe I'll go and try Bayonetta now.

"Over 60% of games seems to be set in the USA"
You mean over 60% of the games you play, right? And no, its not always some 20-30 white male with square jaws. If you want, there are many other games out there that don't have that.

To be fair, video games are also the reason some men have jobs in the first place. So......yeah. It is what it is.
