Hopefully sony is not that dumb and will include RCA outputs for audio on the HDMI female end. Thinking about they would have to . Although they said that HDMI supports video and audio signals but the HDMI only plugs in the TV so they would have to have seperate cables going to your reciever.

Yeah but doesent mean you should limit the technology just because of pricing predictions. Some people actually want to pay it or if not now than later on.
I will admit that when there is action on the screen it does blur. Hopefully 1080p will solve that. And thats why I want HDMI and PS3. But the colours are amazing.
My Cable HD box shows in 1080i and the world cup games look better than real life. My 360 (hooked up with the same type of cables and set up to 1080i) does not come close to matching what my HD box displays.

Why do all you people keep talking about next year and this year. Put your foot in your pie hole. A consoles life expectancy is at least 6-7 years so they have to be prepared. Plus the PS3 isnt even coming out untill the end of the year. I have a rear-projection lcd tv that supports 1080p and I want a cheap BR player with HDMI. Imagine the PS2 couldnt play DVDs. Yes it wasnt the greates DVD player but it did the job for a good price and kept me occupied in between waiting for MGS and GTA. ...

Wow imagine the egos that had to be crushed for this to happend. People forget that the only difference originally betwneen BR & HDDVD was that one used a blue laser and the other a violet and I think HDDVD later on went with blue anyway so they are basically the same tech. It was more about who can market it and push it better (ie the PS3). But people just want HD content Im glad this happend if its true. Now bring on that holographic stuff!
Why wouldnt sony have time to change it swaping drives is not a complicated task not for a million units in 4 months anyway.
