It won't eliminate the problem but it will temporarily limit the number of 360 getting the RROD over time.
This is a good thing now I can feel a little bit relieved that when I get my 360 soon the odds of me getting the RROD will be much lower.
Instead of having a 33% failure rate maybe it'll be a 15% failure rate.

I really can't see much of a difference.
The only thing that I can see is that PS3 has better lighting but other then that it's the same game.

I was once a Sega fan boy when I bought the Dreamcast and once that console died I bought a PS2 and now a PS3 and that makes me a fan boy.

Sony isn't quite losing they already 2 million units ahead of 360 w/ the PS3 and PS2/PSP are still dominating the charts.
360 is only relying on one console Sony has 3 consoles to worry about instead of just one like Microsoft has to throw money at for marketing/advertising.
Regardless the numbers are still really close despite 360 only costing 1/4 of what the PS3 costs in Japan.
