I know it never said anything like that, but its very nature suggests that its self congratulating.
Dont do that, if your going to announce it, do it when you have a trailer like for the first. You're just bringing the whole expectations down when you announce it like this, then that its a 'Small team' just adds to that... me and my mates at uni love mirrors edge, it stands out with its eye catching colours and has a fun concept, i think it deserves some sort of excitement being brewed, especially when AC2 gets that and they were met with similar bipolar reactions and a similar game concept...
I'm excited, really enjoyed the first Gears (Didnt buy the second though) and so i'm excited for this! They are a good developer, and carry the reputation of an amazing developer. So good times ahead, i dont have enough horror games.
P.s Cliffy B at Sony Press conference would feel so wrong, Like hideo strutting out at Microsoft.

If they are restocking they are expecting a boost in sales. This could perhaps mean an announcement at E3 or any other time regarding MGS4, like an expansion or other bonus features for MGS4.
These things dont just happen for no reason after its been discontinued.

i agree. Final Fantasty is one of the big franchises i stick with, including MGS, Resident evil and GTA. But this one doesnt have my hype going. It doesnt feel like its going to be a bad game, but theres just no excitement. Like you i cant put my finger on it.
It does look pretty good. Never played Mafia 1, but this looks to sway me big time.

So your argument is that people should pay more, for just what they want. rather than pay significantly less for what they want and more? I work with macs nearly everday, being at a media university they have spread like herpes. I still use a PC for everything important, all my coursemates have bought into this thing and spent thousands of pounds on Macs, even though they have absolutely no advantage. They just follow like sheep. Thats the Mac audience for ya.
Like everyone is saying, it does sound pretty poor. But it MAY just be an amazing story. I think its the broken english in this pitch which doesnt do justice to what could be a sophisticated story.

GTA Belfast in the 70s-90s would be really good.
Also Tokyo would be amazing, alot of variety in japanise locations, and they can play around with making humor out of badly translated stuff like they love to.
