Well...as you already mentioned in the article, time on the game is already limited in some countries. In SWTOR, your XP decreases if you don't enter rest zones regularly...it doesn't stop you, though. I guess companies have recognised it as an issue and measures have to be put in place. Gamers find a way around these often though.
If only it could be done in real life.

Indie games FTW - nice to see interesting IP developed on the side like this. I guess the hope is that the best of them get picked up by bigger studios and then really rock.
If the guys put in as much effort and time as traditional sports people to reach the top coupled with the fact that it takes real skill to compete..why not a sport.
