Quite right, just like any other sport or in fact, any profession, its all package. You not only have to have the skills, but you need the right attitude.
Escapism is generally why I play games, quite right.
Agreed on both counts, but still a nicely written article.
I think the "accomplishment" side of gaming is one of the most positive effects that people can draw on, especially for children. It gives positive reinforcement and builds a self-confidence that is so vital to being successful in the world today.
The GTAV video was a little boring. I just think leave religion out as a whole. No politics and no relgion, just makes people mad.
Gaming is gaming, agreed.
Too much sneaking around for me but a nice follow on to the "Qualities of an Ideal Game" > http://n4g.com/news/1235283...
Nicely written.
Yes, we are the guinea pigs :)
LOL, well spotted :)
I don't mind linear games, but I don't want to made to feel that its on rails. I like a good story line, preferably something clever with a twist. First and foremost, though, the gaming must be playable - I think nowadays game place too much emphasis on graphics and not enough on the essence of the gameplay.
Only available in the US, eh? Damn and there was me wanting Dolly the Dinosaur for my city. I find the server arguement in the article completely ridiculous. How can you ignore on the biggest gaming markets on the basis 'that's where the pirates come from'- If they supported the market more, there would probably be less piracy. Bet the guys in the EA Asia office must be seething.
World of Tanks = Win! The nice thing about this F2P games is that free does not mean rubbish. These are some amazing games and the nicest thing is - I don't mind chipping in a few $$$ if its a decent game. Better than spending a whole bunch of cash on a gaming, taking it home and find out its rubbish (done that a few times). Still..don't forget about TF2 in that list :)
Big thanks to all the ladies from Good Hope FM for coming out to show off how much fun gaming is. See? Even if you're a celeb, gaming is cool!
Leave the segmentation to marketers, for the rest of us, lets just get on with the gaming.
Yie ar Kung "Fun" is what it was, although I was a big fan of "Way of the Exploding Fist" on my good old Sinclair Spectrum 48k!!
I've met lots of interesting people from all over the world gaming. Its making that global village smaller, one raid at a time :D
"Soul in the Source Code" - Nice, like the Ghost in the Machine :). Nice article. Gaming is a great way to bond and connect with friends, for sure.
Shoulder Massage of Death FTW. I had a good laugh at that.
Sure, when does violence in video games get too real. True, its a frightening thought when it starts to feel too much like real life.
Keith David as Captain David Anderson in ME. Such as smooth voice, deep voice - should have been a blues singer. Been in quite a few movies too.
