You can hardly give away actual PS1's, because all PS2's, play all PS1 games through component video no less. Last I checked, you can hardly give away PS2's either, because they sold 150+ MILLION of them, and they are certainly not on the endangered species list.

Only a company as deluded, crappy, inept, lazy, arrogant, and downright stupid as SquareEnix, would need to patch a remake of this kind for this reason.
Any competent company of any caliber, would have made this release properly, the first time. Well okay, maybe not EA, however, SquareEnix "is" the EA of Japan after all.
