The generation after that will see a reset as all consoles are now evenly matched in consumer domination by the end of the last generation (with Wii obviously behind in specs). The PS4 will have a shorter generation as she was built to extend the PS3's cycle while competing with he Wii2 and Xbox3. This will cause them all to be up for new consoles at the same time allowing a 3 way jump off the line. All new innovations/fads as the whole wii/motion/Kinect era is now forgotten.
I think we're going to see some changes in the way these consoles lineup there launches. From the start I would like to point out that I am an Xbox fan even though I think a lot of what I have written below may actually be more PS slanted.
Last Gen:
Sony: Playstation2 - 10/00 (US)
Microsoft: Xbox - 11/01
Nintendo: Gamecube - 11/01
Current Gen:
Microsoft: Xbox 360 - 11/05 (4 years)
Nintendo: Wii - 11/06 (5 years)

Kinect includes it's own CPU so the 360 shouldn't be do much if anything extra as a result of the use of Kinect.
Exactly. HD took about 10 years to really take hold because of lack of content and expensive entry price. 3D is currently in the same situation where it costs way to much to get the ability to have 3D and that's not cost effective to produce for. Sony is being gimmicky with the PS3's 3D capabilities this generation. Next generation though I will be surprised if all consoles do not offer 3D as during that generation things are going to become main stream. Most gamers are not playing on...
You can try and find reasons for MSFT to put a holder price up but they all make no sense. I think $149.99 will be the final product price but MSFT won't announce it as they will then have to announce all of the details of what that includes. At the moment they can ensure they don't fall behind presales but still don't have to admit what you are actually getting for that price. Eventually they will make an announcement of all the prices and console bundles and that is when they wi...
MTV aired it Tuesday at 3:30PM during the Sony press event and then Nick@Nite aired it at 9PM that night as well. Both airings were commercial free. It was pretty interesting to watch. Lots of interesting effects and plenty of staged gameplay demos without all the talking by execs who have nothing better to do than make corny comments.
Not only did they confirm that it was backwards compatible but they used existing games to let people play with natal, LOL!!!
If anything Home just found out it's screwed. Knock offs are never as popular as the original and if the original is past it's prime and failing then the knock off has no chance.
The 360 doesn't use a tuner. It has no hardware at all. Basically you sign up for IPtv service with some provider and they give you a disc that you put in your 360. When it's in the drive it installs the IPtv support just like they did for the HD-DVD drive. It then uses the ethernet jack to get the video. I'm pretty sure it is already out in the US because I've seen videos on youtube from people claiming to have it already and showing the install process. They announced it about two years ago...
It may not be a fad but it's not a console either. To be a console it has to have multiple games that people want. The Wii is a game since it ships with the only game that people seem to play.
Shouldn't Sony be focusing more on the PS3?
Can't sony come up with anything original? All they do is copy Microsoft. Sorry had to do it. Why did everyone have a fit that Microsoft copies yet now no one seems to care when Sony does a direct clone?
I'm not sure who told them that she was the fan favorite. I'm pretty sure the fan favorite is Jen from PR. Does anyone know where she is now? We haven't heard from her in awhile.
Nobody seems to understand what it actually is. This does not install anything to the console. It is nothing like what Sony does. It was not designed to decrease load times. This was made for multi disc games and people complaining about the drive being loud. There is no installation, it copies the entire disc to the drive. That way you don't have to hear the drive ever and if it asks you to switch discs you don't need to do it since all the discs are on the HDD. The only bad thing here is th...
I just ran a test and the latest Safari build blew the latest Firefox build out of the water. All of these tests always compare beta to release but in a beta to beta comparison Firefox really gets smoked. If your interested in the betas there actually called webkit and are the open source engine of Safari. Safari is just a gui for it. Thus the nightly webkit builds are identical to Safari on the surface (even have the same version number) except for a gold icon instead of silver.
I find the whole motion thing to be gimmicky. The 360 is more of a hard core gamer system. I only see this being used in Arcade games which are catered toward the casual gamer already. I would buy one for an arcade sports game but I would never buy it to use in a racing game or any of my other full games.
The Best Buy near me has the same $129.99 sticker on it that they've had for a while but the price sticker on the shelf says now $49.99. They also have a giant yellow cut out sign taped above it that says HD-DVD is discontinued. That's how they all should be displayed. Companies not displaying this information are just scamming.

This technology is old and has been available at a steep but not as steep as expected price. It was originally created for use in cars where the driver could have a navigation display while the passenger got to watch a movie. I first saw it back in 2003 (on TechTV) and it was cool back then but had one huge flaw. It worked in cars where the individuals were locked in place but in open environments it could not work as it required individuals to be at precise angles to have proper viewing (sim...
