Yep, pretty much Red Dead Redemption is taking the GOTY and possibly other awards. On a site note, I'm so happy Celeste is being nominated as GOTY. I know it wont win GOTY but the fact that is there by it's own merits with no marketing whatsoever in comparison to the other big publishers and studios, that says much about the game.

Well last year was Mario Odessye or Breath of the Wild. But I'm glad BOTW won, totally deserves it. This year...well so is God of War as the big contender, the other is the infamus Red Dead Redemption 2 which people are waiting for....since I don't care about read dead, I'm ok with God of war....I also forgot Smash Bros Ultimate is onthe horizon so yep we all set.

Simple question...the answer is MARKETING, they did a good job announcing the console's purporse and market it like they should've done with the Wii U. The other reason is because the product is good enough for most people to justify it's purchase.

The corssplay isn't the issue and it will not hurt any brands, it's the stubborness from sony just because they are wining the console race thios generation that will hurt their own brand. Sure they got their exclusives and third party support indeed but when the next big game co-op online hits the market...guess what will happen? Customers are loyal but you can only push them this far, once that they will turn your back on you and move on to the next thing.

"Sony's Lack of Support for Cross-Play Has Made Them a Villain" well that's because they are....sure every company wants to make money and that's how it should be, but when you are being a dick to future Ps4 or ps5 adopters by restricting their cross-play experience with other just to earn a few more bucks then youare a miserable and you will eventually pay for your greed sooner or later, after all history has proven that several times in this industry.
