It's a good thing you are doing.
OT
I'm really sceptical about a 2013 release date, but I'm not opposed to it.

I wouldn't look too much into them not releasing details considering that they haven't even given a release date yet (which most people are assuming is November).
Clearly they aren't letting everything about it get out right now.
While that would be good, I would be disappointed if it didn't account for the time the journey would take, and if it did then that would also affect the story.
I would like a story driven one better as a proper RPG (y'no exploring the world and stuff) wouldn't really work because Westeros is so big.
I'd put it in my top 10 for the generation as well, though I think that RDR was better.
"FFXIII was a bad game, a bad JRPG, because it failed to live up to its potential."
That's just stupid. Every game has potential which they fail to meet, that does not make them bad. And it does not make XIII bad.
You can call it a bad Final Fantasy game and I'll have no objection, but it was not a bad game.
"American reviewers averaged the game to 84, so obviously they liked it too"
Do you believe the internet is comprised solely of Americans? I assume that 84 is from metacritic or gamerankings, if so then you should know that those reviews are pretty international.
The list is going 10 to 1 not 1 to 10. He is saying that 13 is worse.
Time and time again I see people say that they didn't understand XIII's story, or as this put's it, it's "incomprehensible".
Anyone who who didn't know what was going on in XIII is either mind numbingly stupid or did not play much of the game (or pay attention). Just about every confusing thing in XIII is explained as the story goes on.
You realise that is the fighting tutorial, don't you?
"I still downloaded the demo and that didn't help the cause as the game isn't good regardless of him being in it or not"
I'm sure I don't need to point it out to you but that sentence made your opinion on the game completely invalid. And Brutal Legend was not a bad game, it was a very good game.
Not really sure why it's used as an example here though, as the game sold well over a million copies, which is rather good.
It won't come back to haunt them though as there are always idiots willing to spend money on even the most pointless DLCs.
I wholeheartedly disagree with the unavoidable pokemon battles. I just saw them as a way to increase my pokemons levels, I could always skip the avoidable ones if I felt I didn't want a lot of battles. Plus they are a test of your ability, so if you can't beat them then you gotta get stronger.
That's a pretty cool way to have the stories on their site.
As Laxman says, can't really say that these will be cult hits as they'll be very popular, although I can't say about Hawken as I've never heard of it before.
Then we must get it to a doctor.
Joking aside, yeah it looks great.
It looks like a game which could turn out to be great, but as you say, no hype.
I mean the game is a month away and all I'm seeing of it is the occasional article popping up on N4G and some adverts on some sites. Nothing much in the real world (that bright, horrific place that exists outwith the internet).

I think you may have gotten too used to this generations graphics as you clearly don't remember what PS2 graphics were like (in most cases).
TruthbeTold
What the hell is wrong with you?
On topic
I'm surprised with the difference, I thought they were closer than that. Though you can't just use one game to form an opinion.
edit
I now see that buddymagoo has provided more, the difference is quite large.
His point isn't that he doesn't get the article authors point about not aiming the conferences at casual gamers. It's that he doesn't get why they aim them at casual gamers. At least, that's what I'm getting from it.
This guy says he sucks but clearly he's got some crazy luck.
