Jukins Dreamcast had a year head start on PS2 and we see how that worked out. A head start doesn't mean anything if the customers want the product coming out the next year and the Dreamcast is a perfect example of that. The company that won the generation with the Wii is a perfect example as well with it also coming out a year later.
Last gen was basically a tie between them even with Sony having many markets by itself and Wii actually winning. Xbox 360 made more revenue and Sony almost went bankrupt. Actually it was sony touting the cell before the PS3 released and don't remember Microsoft talking like that. Quit with the revisionist history.
Why do people bring up the original Xbox up. Sony was coming off a 100 million unit selling original Playstation and Xbox was just a unknown new console entering the videogame market a year later and it was never expected to be competitive. Stop bringing up the original Xbox to prove a point because it doesn't make sense. Kids that were in diapers at that time commenting on things that they clearly don't know about is hilarious. Smh
There are many devices to make a return on outside of PS. Millions and millions of PC,Android devices coupled with Xbox is enough. I am so sick of people acting you like have to put games on Playstation. Get a fkn PC if you want to play. I not sure that this generation will play out the same way the last on did, so it not a forgone conclusion that Sony will double install base again. They won't be on Playstation. People are really acting like they have to recoup on this investment asap....

Apple doesn't have a console and not many would buy a Mac just to play Take 2 games, so they would probably just leave things where they are and put games on all apple devices exclusively for mobile. Apple has no interest in console gaming.
I try not to deal with unrealistic hypotheticals. I'm not falling for that fear bs gaming will continue to be fine. It's not really that serious and you will be fine if you have a PC gaming rig like most claim to have.

Sully I have a Pro and no I don't want it on Xbox. I have the first one and to me it was a one week wonder that you don't pick up after that.

Junkins Wii won plain and simple. That is reality and why it sold or why something sold doesn't matter. Just because you didn't like it doesn't change that fact. I live in the US and didn't know anyone with a PS3, but many with a wii and 360. Not surprising considering that the wii(45 million in the US) and 360(49 million in the US) outsold the PS3(29 million in the US)
