Not sure why anyone's disagreeing with you- comparing Sony and MS hardware details like the ESRAM & move engines to the direct unified GDDR5 setup, Sony's setup strikes me as very much standard with the exception of GDDR5 being the entire pool of memory (not just GPU RAM). If Sony wanted to make a low-cost (roughly) Xbox one equivalent today, basically all they'd have to do is swap their GDDR5 for DDR3.

To any hardware enthusiast Sony&#...

Even if the X1 has a CPU capable of more ops/cycle, the GPU is vastly more important for the fillrate required to draw at HD resolutions with Antialiasing and such turned on. Besides, the trend going forward has been to spill CPU compute tasks over to the GPU (PhysX anyone?), which underlines the importance of the GPU and a unified memory system even more.

For those of you discussing it someone at NeoGAF did a comparison of KZSF at E3 versus now. The final build is actually *much* better looking, dead serious.

Deep submicron transistors don't weigh a lot...bigger is not necesssrily better here.

Oh good grief, the "cloud" strikes again...
Notice to Microsoft PR: STOP. Just. Stop. You are fooling only the completely uninformed. The rest of us know better than to believe that your server farm will result in a direct boost to the immediate capabilities of your hardware in any concrete way. You're making yourselves look deceitful and foolish, and it's embarrassing.

Dude you guys can't be serious...Browser on the XB1 is behind a paywall? F*cking awful idea.

I dunno. It may look next gen but didn't a well-known reviewer say he could play the game with one hand and it was like dialing numbers on his phone?

Almost all modern FPS engines have a frame draw limit that limits the number of frames the engine will draw every second, and it can usually can be set by changing a variable (or a couple of them). This should be patchable. Good to hear the problem is more frames, not less!

The article is correct that you can build a roughly PS4 equivalent machine, but it'll cost slightly more, like $500-600. I built one when my PS3 went up in smoke, so I'm not just guessing. The hardware in my machine could probably be gotten for even less than $500 now because my machine is a year old which is ages in the PC space.

Also, the GDDR not being available isn't an issue. I have a GPU with 2GB GDDR5 and it runs every current game on ultra at 60fps, which ...

Most audio receivers from 2007 on can decode the DTS and Dolby HD formats. Nice feature but hardly a necessity for anyone with a system capable of taking advantage of these formats. It's cool that they used a high enough spec audio processor to do it, though.

I wonder how true this could turn out to be. On one hand, streaming video services are on the rise, and the Xbox One is not a cable box per se. On the other, the Xbox One could be used to access streaming video services (though your cable/ISP may not be super thrilled about hosting both that and the increasing Netflix traffic out there), and there's been talk of a more subscription based pricing model for consoles for some time.

I'm all for that, but it could all turn...

I think mewhy32 meant that gamers *aren't* stooges. Totally agree with most everyone here. And they made an error in the way they sold it- when you watched the footage it seemed they just talked about the limitations of DRM, instead of playing up a few of the benefits to at least make the message palatable. Honestly, they had to have known it was going to be received poorly without some serious salesmanship.

The number of PR gaffes by MS is just baffling. If they wanted o...

Thx nypifisel- I get you. The more details I read the more it seems like the XB1 was designed to be a fast 720p machine, which is fine, but you gotta wonder who thought of non-optional Kinect. Might not matter in ten years, because MS shareholders may nix the xbox if it's not profitable enough.

Nail, head and all that Hammad- for all the negative press they're still going to sell more copies than most of the rest of the games of this generation COMBINED.

The drama just keeps on coming. I am really curious what the sales figures for each box will look like before any price cuts for either.

The XB1 version seems to have the same framerate issues as the PS4. Watch the videos linked here: http://m.n4g.com/news/13872...

Plenty of dips for both consoles. Hopefully it's fixable with a patch.

Yeah it looked like he was *trying* to quick scope for sure, but he wasn't getting any kills that way. It actually looks like they increased the scope delay to prevent quickscoping though? That might actually make me get the game, lol.
