The CD laser could be true, they run on different wavelengths though it's unlikely to be excluded because the parts are manufactured to support both. The codec for CDA might have a licensing fee.
The UHD Blu-Ray is definitely only a software issue.
Sony had a pricey 4K Blu-Ray player go to market only months after the Pro. Likely they didn't want to compete with themselves given the price tag of the 4K stand-a-lone.
This is inevitable. Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64... not quite as many classics but enough fun games to make something.
I would like PS1 and PS2 disc emulation and 4K Blu-Ray support for Pro (which could be more likely now with the new X in the pipeline).
That was where I was going but OP got defensive about liking LAN, which for the record is a fine game. LOL
@Kun_ADR or you could read my comment about GTA...
Why do you say that? If there is an audience GTA is already a multi-platform game.
It's not scalping. They're bundling and there are $450 worth of items included. Some even save $10 or $20 if all purchased separately.
@letsa_go
Don't know why you're getting disagrees... burnt copies of Dreamcast games are definitely on CDs. The system had a GD-ROM not DVD that Sega made, discs held up to 1GB.
Think of the children!!

@Servbot
The low stock situation the Switch is in 4 months post release is exactly the same as all of the PlayStation launches, PSVR, Dreamcast, etc. It's extremely common and generally levels out after 6 months.
I pretty much came here to see who said this first. Love BOTW but this makes you think...
Abnett is an excellent writer. I'm glad to see he's getting more involved in the games industry.
Yes with a couple caveats:
1. Improve the emulation! No more washed out colors that don't match the original. I'm not going to give examples--there are tons online.
2. Continue to bring unreleased games! Earthbound Zero, Star Fox 2... there are more. Earthbound 3, Sweet Home perhaps?
3. Give me video options, please! Let me toggle 2x scaling or scan lines. I've been doing it since '97 on PC.
TMNT on my NES is like Dark Souls with turtles.
I have a Switch and I'm a firm believer in gameplay over graphics. That said, a little more in the system specs area would still be nice.
Dude that game was fun!
Agree with some of the picks. Throw in these: Jet Moto, Loaded, Legacy of Kain.
This is helpful. I've been waiting to see the reviews. Thanks!
I love the game but I have to agree this feels like "New Game+" type of content. I'm hoping the second half later this year is better.
Vote with your wallet!
@KTF6
Two separate things: I was talking about CD wavelength. Then I was talking separately about 4K Blu-Ray, in terms of compression the Pro handles H.265.
