Consoles should just have massive HDD or SSD and only use optical media to install the games on like a PC.
You have the physical copy but you don't have to run the game off the blu-ray or DVD or HD-DVD disk etc.
Running games off optical disks as opposed to HDD or even SDD is slow.
Here we go again folks.
Anytime a Gears or Halo game is just about to be released, N4G.COM goes nuts with the trolling.
"The sequel looks the same..the graphics are the same..."
Now dare say this about KZ3 or Uncharted 3 on THIS site...Lord help you...LOL
Millions of personal data is lost/stolen....It's a major issue.
As for previous identity thefts as you indicated?
You have proof they are not trying to resolve those issues...and the fact that millions of persoanl data was comprimiesed SHOULD be of a greater concern because if just 1% of that data is used for idenity theft, the cost/security etc will be FAR higher than a few select individuals as you mentioned.
So I am sorry if I take this situation more seriously ...
It's a very SERIOUS issue. Its not just data/financial details lost that is of concern. The Government is worried mostly about identity theft.
It effects many sectors of the ecosystem and goes far beyond what one might think

If you call yourself a true gamer you would have at least 2+ systems to avoid these downtimes.
The FBI does this all the time and the CIA. Hire the criminals that exploit the system. They are the best at catching the thieves...because they are thieves.
It's smart because in the end catching these cyber crooks is very hard. Having them work for you and knowing how they think is the better solution and is why many companies hire them.
Oh least you forget.
Sony charged EVERYONE for DRM with the PS2+shipping charges to fix it...until they were sued in a class action lawsuit. It was the main reason Sony was sued....and settled.
The PS2 Disk drive was a POS like the Disk Drive in the PS1...And both of those had almost similar issues. Over heating. Warping. Not playing disks.
Took Sony two generations to fix that mess.
A ELECTRONICS COMPANY THAT ACTUALLY MAKES IT OWN ELECTRONICS AND DOES NOT FAR...
"According to Spafford, security experts monitoring open Internet forums learned months ago that Sony was using outdated versions of the Apache Web server software, which "was unpatched and had NO FIREWALL INSTALLED." The issue was "reported in an open forum monitored by Sony employees" two to three months prior to the recent security breaches, said Spafford."
That in itself is SCATHING.
We already knew this...But it will make future lawsuits against Sony quite interesting for them with this little information.
The vultures are sure to come out of the wood work with this news
So you don't want competition to possibly lower the prices? The way a free market works?
Ya that makes a lot of sense...
Almost ALL video games turned to movies suck as regardless
Digital Distribution is the future like it or not.
In the end it is cheaper for game developers because it cuts out the middle man. Shipping costs. Stocking fees etc.
If a company can cut costs and increase its margins/profits...you know damn well they are going to do it, so expect DD to be mainstream sooner than we think
This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better for Sony.
$1 BILLION lawsuit is a joke.
The scary part is by the time NGP comes out we will see smart phones and tablets just getting quad core GPU's from Nvidia and Qualcomm with more cores than the NGP.
Exciting times for tech I say.
The reason COD can run at 60fps is because of the graphics. They are sub par.No real time lighting. No destruction. Last generation visuals. Poor draw distance. Low resolution textures throughout. No use of vehicles. Smaller map sizes. No interaction with the environment.
If you put just a few of those features in COD the game would be crawling at 30fps or lower.
@frelyer
So Sony as a corporation is not evil also?
Knowingly installing Root kits is innocent?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Or when Sony refused to acknowledge DRM and would not compensate owners of faulty PS2's resulting in a major class action lawsuit that Sony settled?
Dude...ALL corporations are evil to an exten...
If the RSX inside the PS3 did not matter then why did Sony spend Millions to Nvidia for it and instead just have the Cell do the graphics alone and Save Sony all that money?
(This is a rhetorical question as we all know the answer already and you don't. However to aid in your cranium handicap with all things that make sense as you cant decipher a piece of dried bread from a stone...here I go)
The Cell Alone could not handle all the graphic calculations required f...
Oh crap...Sony...expect even more lawsuits now...
Unreal power for a tablet and soon to be Smart Phones. All coming in August.
Just when you thought the tech behind the NGP was powerful, here comes this.
LOL Good one. KZ3 looks better than BF3? LOL
Just when you thought you heard it all....then agian this is N4G.COM
Comparing a game that has a full destructible environment, running all real time lighting/Global Illumination and other effects etc and maps 4 times the size OF kz3...
To a game (KZ3) that has Zero DESTRUCTION. No real time lighting at all. Does not even use HDR for that matter.
Maps infinitely smaller. Smaller draw distance.
Ya..KZ3 or Unch...
