Because its primary focus is gaming and does not translate to the same usage as a Smart Phone. Nor is it as portable. I for one use my Smart Phone almost constantly because of the nature of my work etc.
A handheld game system is optional.

This is common knowledge. As soon as the Xbox360 and the PS3 was released...Sony and MS started to work on the next console almost immediately.
This is par of the course now as t takes many years to finalize hardware for these consoles.
MW3 will outsell BF3 by large margins and in the end BF3 will be the better game.
Sales does not equate to quality as seen in recent COD games.

Who could be bad at any COD game when it's by far the easiest FPS game to get kills. Ir's one of the reasons noobs and newbies flock to this aging game because they can all play it. These are the same type people who cry BFB2 or KZ3 etc are tooooo difficult to play. COD is dated and needs a major reboot. Activison is milking this crappy franchise to death and sucking people like you to accept mediocrit...

The Intellivison was my first console system.
The PS3 is 5+ years old with limited memory and bandwidth. The Xbox360 is even in a worse position.
There is a reason WHY it cannot run more than 1% of its entire game library at 1080p using real Anti-Aliasing or real time effects most of the time. The Xbox360 the same.
This so called "untapped" power is really: Developers using more OPTIMIZATIONS.

It's a money issue. It will cost more man power an finances to put in the extra effort to make the PS3 version stand out when it comes to multi-platform games. Most 3rd party companies WILL not do this because time is money.
And your argument can also go towards PC multi-platform games.

Nothing wrong with Blu-Ray at all. The limitations for the PS3 as for the Xbox360 also was lack of RAM and Bandwidth that is associated with both.
One of Sony's BIGGEST mistake (and it seems they have corrected this fully with the development of the NGP) was the fact they took NO advice or after thought from game developers when they designed the PS3. They built a system with the idea:

Crytek did an AMAZING JOB just getting the Cryengine to run on these aging consoles running all those effects in real time...That they should get praise for. There is no other console game out right now that is performing what the Cryengine is doing under the hood for a console game....
