Can't have proper BC without Cell/RSX processor included in PS4. Emulation is easy with PS1 and Ps2 since PS4 cpu can handle the job, but is way too under powered to handle PS3 emulation. Plus Cell architecture is radically different to emulate properly.
Basically this means there is NO simple solution without extra hardware to run local games like your ps3 game discs, or need remastered editions for PS4, or PS Now to stream.
So you want TRUE BC for PS4...

I wish they would offer a premium sku of PS4 with hardware BC. And Yes I am aware of extra cost. But I can play all my PS3 games as well as Ps4 games....
Lets not forget many heroes/antiheroes also seem to suffer or maybe be suffering from mental illness.

Does sound Sad. My dad never played video games, but always used to watch me play them (except the really violent/graphic ones). He especially enjoyed watching play the uncharted games, saying it was more entertaining watching this than all the crap reality shows. He passed away back in 2011, and to this day still miss it when he is not there watching.

Prepare to pay $500-$600 for a BC PS4. The Cell processor is too difficult to emulate right now cheaply due to its unique architecture, so you need a PS4 with an included Cell/RSX chips et as well as 256MB xdr ram. Add engineering to ps4 need to add that and it drives up the costs. They removed ps2 BC from ps3 due to lower price of ps3...
THIS is what a Star Trek game should be like. Not that shooter we got several years ago based on Abrams version of trek...
Complaining to Sony alone is not enough. Need to push the issue with major developers like EA and Ubisoft. For them it's wait till sales before developing, but sometimes AAA titles must be made first to get the sales...
At these prices, I'd rather just buy a PS3 and some games. I know a few people who would rather pay $600 for a PS4 with built in Cell/RSX and other stuff and have Hardware BC for PS1, PS2, AND PS3...I would save up for that
People don't want to spend more $$$ for extra hardware for TRUE BC. They don't want to pay $500-$600 for a PS4 su with built in Cell/RSX (software emulation wont work due to how different the Cell processor is vs the X86 type CPU the PS4 has)..
Just Wish Sony would give us the option though....
