Boy, you contributors can't get enough of these duplicate stories. This is the third submission of the same story.
That was in 2000, the first Christmas PS2 was released. This is the third Christmas for PS3. PS2 had weaker competition. The current competition is fierce. It's a bit different.
No, Please Juuken, don't post another wait and see comment. That's why PS3 is taking a beating on N4G. Because PS3 users keep saying, wait for MGS4, wait for Haze, Wait for LBP, Wait for R2... etc... etc..
By all means, the PS3 has a fantastic catalog of games, no one is deputing that but that isn't helping. Not in the United States anyway. Not that the video game war is over but for every card Sony puts down, Microsoft has another one up their sleeve. Microsoft never reveals the...
I think there are many things Sony could have done to push Playstation 3 sales this holiday season. Here's a few simple ideas.
1.) Pack in FREE older games. Microsoft is packing in two free games. Why can't Sony? Heck, just have them uploaded on the PS3 hard drive to avoid the manufacturing cost of the Blu-Ray disc's. It would cost Sony nothing. If people don't want them, they can delete them and avoid having the market flooded with trade-ins.
2.) Multi-colored units...

I'm not worried about the PS3 hardware sales. In the end, software is all that matters. However, some of Sony's biggest Holiday titles aren't selling what they should be. It makes me wonder what the hell's wrong with PS3 owners. Go support Sony by buying their games. What are you? A bunch of teenagers without jobs?
@Captain_Sony
It would be a big deal if Sony Sold 2 million PS3 in a month. Nintendo on the other hand has been number one since it launched the Wii, month after month. One has to accept that Nintendo rules this generation. I don't know if it's even fun to see these numbers. As I said before, I think we are all used to getting raped by Nintendo.
"With all these advantages, it's curious that the take-up rate of the 360 has been only slightly above the curve of the original Xbox. A look at that list begs the question - why aren't more people buying the 360?"
Because it's only recently gotten to a mass marketable price point. The arcade system was the cheapest Xbox 360 over the course of 3 years @ $299 and $279. The magic number is $199. Xbox 360 has done a commendable job for remaining as expensive as it had and ...
Does anyone care? So you raped and pillaged everything again... Big deal. I think we are all used to getting raped by Nintendo.
@Captain_Sony
Nope, I have a Wii. I don't have many games for it.
Nights Journey of Dreams
House of the Dead 2 and 3
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil: UC
Monkey Ball: BB
Zak and Wiki
Ghost Squad
Metroid Prime 3
Smash Bros. Brawl
The memory on my Wii is actual full because I've D...
They found a way, they compared their October sales to their November sales.
@CrazzyMan
I have more games and Playstation products then you'll have in your life time. I've had a Playstation 3 since day one. Not only have I own my own video game store but I've attended E3 since 1999. My experience as a gamer eclipses you. You're under my feet.
Good numbers, no arguing there.
You've got to love the PR. I was trying to figure out how they'd spin their number and they used their October sales to compare to their November sales.
@CrazzyMan
You sound like a broken record. What are you cutting and pasting that everywhere?
Well, Sony's PSP and Playstation 2 are cheaper than Wii and they didn't out sell it. Even when Playstation 2 was at it's peak, it wasn't pulling in those numbers. Wii raped everyone. However, PS3 took it from both ends.
Good Lord, this is "EPIC!"
@cmrbe
It doesn't seem like Sony put much effort into their PS3 marketing. I think the $500 unit comes with Uncharted but why didn't they make their $400 more attractive? Sony could have packed in two free games like Microsoft! Why not release a white version of the PS3, maybe a limited edition (300k units or so). Sony really just sat on their a$$es. They did nothing to help boost their sales.
Hey, you know, PSP, Playstation 2 are cheaper then Wii. Everything got raped by Wii. Since it's release, nothing has out sold Wii. If you are a Fanboy, you think Microsoft is your enemy? It's Nintendo. They took away all your casual gamers. Microsoft just recaptured it's own market. Heck, even Juunken Supports Wii and she's a die hard Sony fan.
@RememberThe357
Meh... They'll spin it. They are going to say that they are pleased that the Playstation family sold a million units combined, out selling the competition or some crap like that.
Why would Playstation 3 owners care about how many discs a 360 game uses? Lost Odyssey was 4 discs and about 80 hours of game play. So I had to change a disc every 20 hours. I assure you that it's not a big deal. There are many PS1 and PS2 games I did the same for.
If Playstation 3 owners are that friken Lazy, I'd hate to see what fat a$$ they are. I'd rather have multiple discs than mandatory installs any day of the week.
This is a tired argument. The arcade system is intended for those that are on a budget. Not everyone has an HDTV. Not everyone is going to play online. The Xbox 360 arcade was created so that the consumer doesn't pay for a bunch of features they don't need. Should they want to upgrade, they can just buy the starter-pack.
For those that want the works, they can get the Pro-System. It currently comes with 2 $40 games, a head set, Ethernet cable and component cables. In addition, yo...
