Well guess I have to buy a NEO this Christmas.
Actually the original idea was to turn Versus XIII into its own sub-series but since the switch to a numbered sequel territory and a huge hiatus, they had to rewrite the original story and make a more cohesive story with a conclusive ending that doesn't lead to a sequel. Square-Enix is financially betting everything on FFXV so I don't think making a direct sequel would be a viable option for the company.
uhhmm.....no.
I don't think the movie needs to justify the lack of female protagonists in the game. It was originally Nomura's idea of the all male party anyway. If the developers want to make the game about brotherhood then let them tell their own story, we already had a story about sisterhood, sure FFX-2 was cheesy as hell but still. I don't hear anyone saying '' Sailor Moon lacks a male protagonist therefore it's crap''. And don't tell me Tuxedo Mask because he's ...
Your new N4G sucks.
I agree with you about being a piss-poor demo that doesn't sell you well on the game. But I do believe they made it for the reasons to showcase the day and night cycle, weather conditions, the use of technology and all that jazz but it was really a pointless effort because other games before FFXV already did that like decades ago. It was a glorified tech demo but it was free so at least you don't feel ripped off for playing it. I think Episode Duscae should give you a better mileage ...
I agree, the demo did a piss poor job showcasing on how will the final game perform, and I also question the sole existence for it as well since I believe the small team just used the small number of resources from the final game for shits and giggles because they were probably bored but at least the demo is free and it could have been far worse. They could have charged for it for no reasons whatsoever and that wold have pissed me off so I can't complain about it. It's free, it's ...
Nomura wanted to make a musical out of FFXV after the premiere of Les Miserables and fortunately his decision was overruled by the board of directors in Square-Enix and his approach to storytelling is known for being rather incoherent one. Just take a look at Kingdom Hearts. I even heard they had to rewrite the story because the original ended with a sequelbait that leaves it open for another continuation of FFXV, hence tagline ''A world of Versus epic'' and Tabata wanted to m...
The definition of turn-based is when a party and enemies take their turns, FF13 isn't turn-based since you're only controlling one character by performing auto-battle while the gauges are filled. That's not turn-based. SMT games are turn-based, Phantasy Star is turn-based, FF13 is an automated dreck.
''Final Fantasy''
A game series that doesn't understand the definition of the word ''Final''.
One million sold units is a great news if we're talking about a middle market game, new sleeper hit IP or an indie title. But when it comes to the the AAA game, especially the one that has a huge fanbase behind it that spawned sequels, spin-offs, movies and comics, one million sales is a huge disaster, especially when it was sold within a two-month period. RE6 sold about 5 million copies in a first month at it sounds great in first glance, but considering that Capcom expected to sell 7 mi...
@DarkOcelet
Unless it's 3rd Birthday 2 or 4rth Birthday or some gibberish.
People seriously expected that Square-Enix will release the first part of the game this year? After they started production of it in December 2014? The first part of the game is summer or late 2017 at its best.
@rainslacker
It took Square-Enix little more than 5 years of development for FFXIII. That's half of a decade. In a modern video game industry 2-3 years is basically a minimum development cycle for an ordinary AAA game. Square-Enix is practically infamous of taking its sweet ass time to release a game.
Unfortunately, Square-Enix lost the license use for Parasite Eve name, that's the reason we got 3rd Birthday as a result, an abortion of the Parasite Eve legacy. The new continuation of Vagrant Story would be nice. If it was handled by Hiroyuki Ito that is.
So the story is going to be predictable, derivative, cliche, plagiarized and pretentious with asshole characters where one of them is a 14 year old lesbian with a potty mouth and it'll cater to tight pants hipster 4 eyed grizzly bearded douches with their comb-overs and their pretentious standards of artistic merits?

I'll just be open-minded about it. The multiple part series doesn't bother me that much. They're basically rendering the pre-rendered backgrounds filled with a good attention to detail in a 3D environment. This shit takes time in game development. It's not as easy as it sounds. it might even take them 4-5 years to finish the rest of the parts. It's a good call for Square that they shifted to Unreal 4. I see that Luminous is giving them a lot of headache and pressure and if...
All the locations and levels besides the world map and mini-game sections are using pre-rendered backgrounds. Rendering those backgrounds in 3D would use up too much time and data to fit into one blu-ray disc. FXIII is significantly shorter than FFVII. We also need to point out that they'll be adding even more content than before. I was shocked when I heard the news about it but by taking those all those points into account I'm not surprised they are going to release the remake in mul...
I have some mixed feelings about FFVII remake. But there's one positive front to this. The game will be developed with the Unreal 4 engine which will make the development process smoother and easier and even less stressful than it was with FFXV when it was developed with an engine that is still not completely finished. And the project is collaborated with CyberConnect2 development studio and they have the experience in the JRPG territory and since the game will be in multiple parts it is ...
