businesses don't acquire dept in the way you are thinking, it is a sunk cost. So there is no need to eat away at any dept. The profit it is turning now is adding to MS as a whole. If you want i guess you can continue to think of it like that, but no business in the world does.
isn't attach rate total software sales divided by total hardware sales? thus giving you a ratio of software to hardware?
As long as people continue to pay for it, they will continue to charge. If the users of Xbox live stop growing and then start to diminish, then maybe they would make it free. But as it stands it continues to grow ever year and generate revenue.
I agree dude, the revenue alone will keep Microsoft charging for Live.If people are willing to pay for it, they will continue to charge its as simple as that. I also don't mind paying for live, and I rarely have problems and enjoy the time I spend on it.
they said 25 million at the end of November, so 28 million now is reasonable. just figure like 1.5 in US and 1.5 million in Europe with a few thousand in japan. But remember these number are always sold to retail, because that is when Microsoft gets paid for the product. So it can be assumed that these will be eventually sold to customers.
P.s. I didn't disagree with you, that is the disagree bandits
good point, I am coming from a college student point of view. Everyone I know has their modem right next to their main TV (cable). This is mostly why i don't know anyone with one, and I know quit a few people with a 360. its a combination of being poor, and location.
With how crazy this guy is, I am surprised this isn't on paper view or something. I would imagine he will be talking about Windows 7 for most of the speech.
why does everyone always add the cost of wireless when comparing the price? I honestly don't know a single person that has the wireless adapter for their 360. You really don't need it to play online, I mean its nice to have but not needed. Especially at $100.
"Americans buy American products, its the same thing in the car industry. Go to America and you will see on the road mostly American cars and not many japanese or European cars."
The failing auto industry in the US says otherwise.
agreed dude, I am sure they have a team of Economist working for them, giving them clues as to whats going to happen.
The T2 was info for one quarter, anyways they still lost money for the quarter so I don't see why it matters which one they made the most Revenue on. Because in the end Profit is what keeps companies a float not Revenue.
Bubbles for you!
I just don't understand how some people can hate on another system so much. I mean we are on a GAMING website, GAMING is our hobby, and the systems are a median that we use to GAME on. So to me hating one system or the other is being counter productive to what you enjoy. Just my two cents
In the end I will continue to enjoy what all 3 have been offering me thus far.
I am sure all companies are going to do fine, anyone that thinks otherwise is grasping at straws at this point.
Drinks? where are you, I will fly anywhere in the world for free drinks!
So this whole article was to describe Europe would be experiencing inflation? I am sure the same thing will happen in the US, considering the Yen has gained value to the US dollar also.
Whats more is it wouldn't surprise me to see other Japanese companies do the same thing.
Edit- 0 min into my comment and I already got a disagree. N4G should just get rid of the agree/disagree button maybe some children would leave.
Am i the only one that noticed this is for one quarter, a quarter when they had no major releases. And on top of this people are so worried about what system made the largest revenue that we all miss they lost money for the quarter?
Please stop with this, you have no clue what your talking about. First the way you always talk about Microsoft, I highly doubt you would be part of any circles regarding their future.
And Secondly, ""it will take them 6 years to break even from what was spent on the 360 in R&D and extending the warranty"" you are talking about Sunk Costs, there is no account out there that records how much money any company lost and how much they need to make to break even...
"Microsoft plans to ship a total of 25 million units by the end of 2008" DJ
then what the Hell was that report about a month back by Microsoft saying they passed the Xbox's install base and are at 25 Million installed. Even if you want to believe that is shipped, that means they reached 25 million shipped sometime in November. Not the end of 2008 like you are trying to make people believe. Food for thought man
You are right the sales are down over all, but also remember that Halo 3 released in September of last year, and really help push hardware. I can see the same thing happening to the PS3 when June numbers come out for next year. and that is because of MGS4, but that is assuming no major title is release during that time.
Too Human was a great concept, and could have been huge. But did you play that game? it was broken in ways that made it almost not fun to play.
