Luckily they gave out a bunch of review codes to a good handful of smaller no name sites giving it perfect scores because it's been divisive among the actual top critics.
Not saying you should only pay attention to top critics, but there is something to note when a good portion of the 10's and 9's are from sites I've never even heard of.
And even the high rated sites still mention that the gameplay can be slow paced and tedious... so wheth...
You have proof of that? I don't think PowerUp is on Meta. They're on OpenCritic and their review is showed there.
That's some Amazon Prime same day delivery status.
Are you sure? Kojima sure seems to want to make a movie or show...
Yep, when I see that as a qualifier and then see that the review continues to praise Kojima and his work no matter what... you know that is a fanboy score and are just protecting Kojima's credibility.
The problem I see even in the 10/10 reviews is that players still have issues with the gameplay and pacing. The tediousness of having to balance the weight and constantly watching your step or you could slip. The fact that 90% of the game IS in fact a FedEx sim... I just can't see how its being justified with a 10 when even those outlets mention these same things.
I personally find that gameplay loop to seem exhaustively annoying.
Yeah you know there is bias when even the 10/10 scores are still saying the gameplay can be repetitive and tedious. SkillUp even straight out calls it a FedEx sim and most of the time you're just walking to destinations having to tediously watch your step or you can fall... How do systems like that, where players are calling tedious... still get a 10/10? Its crazy.
@Potato
Man they really sent out codes to A LOT of sites I've never even heard of before. Glad they found some small no name sites to score this game really well.
I never said its not something to be proud of, but why would I be proud of it? lol I don't own the company. Just saying that a console where a service came late to, with now a bigger library, and that has more than 3 times the install base SHOULD outpace subscribers.
Imagine Insomniac, or Guerrilla games handling a 3rd person adventure SW. Or have First Contact Entertainment (Firewall devs) make a Republic Commando VR MP game...
The SW license needs to be open shop and not locked down to a single pub/dev...
The way this is said, it sounds like they only have one more game on contract? We will release at least one more Star Wars game... almost as if they aren't sure if there will be more. Maybe I'm reading into too much.
Well yeah, because PS4 users now have a bigger catalogue and have missed out on it for a while. When it first launched, people were a bit wary about a sub for EA, plus it had a small library. Also, PS4 has like 3 times the users... not sure why this is all that surprising.
Gunplay is limited to a small handful of blood weapons and only used against the blob monster. Otherwise all we have seen is a non lethal weapon that wraps enemies up so you can get away. Vehicles are rare and not used all of the time. Horror gameplay? Please tell me where? Stealth seems extremely basic. Hades/Beach/Time dilation isnt gameplay...
Kojima even said himself, combat is limited as he doesnt want you to kill people. It is mostly about the journey. Yes, it does ha...
Okay so you're just assuming the big whale thing swimming buy is a boss. All the others we have seen are the big black goo lion monster looking thing. The homo-demons don't seem like bosses really. But I don't know, I haven't been convinced on the gameplay since the very beginning so unless Kojima is really hiding a lot then I'm not sure it's for me. Or it could be like I said before, just one of those games that is better played.
I watched it again... I still only see the one black tentacle lion monster thing. Can you point out another boss? Are we just assuming we will have a big boss battle with Baker, Madds, and that giant black sludge whale?
I'm saying that everything looks good with the game besides the actual gameplay portions. The cutscenes, the story, the acting, the soundtrack, the graphics all look good. I just hope the gameplay is engaging enough to get you to those good parts. Or per...
Agreed, and nothing wrong if he is focusing on more exploration and equipment management aspects. Not all of his games need to follow MGS, but what I've seen isn't exactly within my gameplay taste unless he is purposefully holding back more combat/gameplay variety. We will see soon enough though!
To be fair... this is the first CoD that has interested me since MW2 and BLOPS 1. I don't typically buy these games, but the visuals have been upgraded nicely and I really like the gunplay and new animations. Feels really nice to play. It's not perfect, but I'm glad its no more operators with special powers and high tech gadget bullshit with jetpacks etc.
Man, everything looks fantastic until he shows the gameplay. Just more walking and package delivery. I really hope that black lion beast isn't the only boss you fight. Everything else from the graphics, voice acting, and sound track are great though.
For sure, using real actors is fine if it isnt just used as a silly "look at this" cameo. Geoff and Conan seem to be silly cameos. While obviously del Toro, Reedus, and Mads are integral to the story and add something.
But we will see soon enough anyway haha
They tried the game, but didnt Like it so much they didn't even want to finish it, thus there isn't a score for it.
I guess it's good the game didnt get another 3/10 though, so there is that.
