1. Even thought some Steam/Steam linkable games have a single player component, Steam might REQUIRES a login.
2. Purchased games can not function independently of Steam. No Steam=paper weight
From a Marketing stand point the larger the game the larger the revenue potential. For instance Mario Galaxy, Halo, and Gran Turismo and huge because of the revenue because their publishers PIMP them out to every possible revenue stream.
Example. Halo was promoted through Burger King, Mountain Dew, and some clothing manufacturers.
Mario was and still is promoted in Mc Donald Happy Meals, Soft Drinks, etc
Gran Turismo and a car commercial with gameplay. ...
The fee apparently pertains to ALL content on PSN. Themes, Videos, and Yes... Patches and Add ons.
MOST importantly is that Publishers have the CHOICE or either distributing patches and updates on there own like Konami and Midway by providing it in-game.
By doing this PSN is freed up of "old content". There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON as to why demos of old games should be on PSN. The only person who would benefit from old demos are re-salers like Gamestop sin...
seeing how its EA, Ubisoft, Konami, Capcom, and the like that are paying for what is essentially and "marketing fee", then Developers have nothing to do with it.
and there are reasons WHY Sony charges the fee.

A lot of articles have been posted get front page recognition because they were salacious rather then substantiative.
pretty cool concept so far.
I Guess I'm getting all huffy. preemptive strike.
It's a positive story of an angle people haven't thought of (very few at least) yet people miss the point because they fail to read it. If you're going to comment, comment with context and read the story first.
Well the article is interesting although details should be noted.
1) Publishers do not have to use PSN. Example - Metal Gear Solid 4 map packs are not on PSN.
2) Publishers can distribute content "in-game". Example - Unreal Tournament 3 COMMUNITY content is posted in game and can be install in game. Content include.... Maps, Character Models, and Game Modes.
3) Whether on PSN or XBL, someone is paying something. As a gamer (sorry publishers) I'd ra...

Whats the release calendar looking like for AAA titles?
Towards the end of the trailer they showed the PSN symbol which pretty much guarantees it.
You do realize review copy is played on private servers so most if not all pre-launch reviews of the multiplayer aspect is bubkiss.
It takes me about 5-6 seconds to get into a match in SF2HDRemix while in SF4 it takes substantially longer and the connection quality on average is poor. Unless you're playing opponents in your metro area or a friend its going to be sketchy.
Really?
