YES the assault rifle volume is absurd lol. Hope they get the patched closer to its original volume.

What was wrong with the controls?

It has elements of both. The gameplay-feel is definitely reminiscent of Doom; you're constantly in motion, trying to dodge enemy fire while pulling off quick shots. The gameplay loop itself, though, is more similar to a Souls game due to the lack of traditional 'checkpoints' or reloadable saves (making permanent progress can sometimes take numerous runs of a level). I haven't actually played a ton of 'roguelikes' before but I'm having an absolute blast with Returna...

@Bathyj
You have no idea what implementation of checkpoints or background saves they could do

And if someone is going to go so far out of their way to cheat their saves, then who cares? Lmao Are you going to? As long as the functionality _within_ the game works and retains the same level of challenge, then how are you bothered?

I... did you... Have you even read what people are talking about here?

@Fluttershy77

There is already the ability to put the PS5 in rest mode, and walk away from the game. This exists right now, in its launch state.

All people are asking for is the ability to close the game and be able to come back to it, just like when they put it in rest mode. A save-on-exit feature that lets you resume play and then the save deletes itself. No reloading from a save. Just resuming play. During the -same- periods of time that they would hav...

What’s funny is this functionality already exists in some form. You can put your PS5 in sleep mode and walk away. So PLEASE, please enlighten me how adding a save-on-exit feature (that deletes itself once you begin playing again) would “ruin the game”? Lmao

4k... is a resolution, not a frame rate 😜

Have you played the demo? It’s a gorgeous game. The interior lighting and material work is outstanding, and looks almost photo-real in HDR

This might sound a bit cliche, but the narration dialogue is supposed to come off as pretentious. (Minor character spoilers) The main character is essentially a highly intelligent detective with depression who drinks himself into absolute oblivion. The writing for his inner dialogue is meant to reflect his overly thoughtful, jaded, self-loathing inner voice that he tried to drink away. He literally finds his own thoughts annoying.

If you can get past those first impressions...

Nice! I finally started a playthrough of this a few months back when I got the PS5, but decided to stop and hold off for a 60FPS patch. Glad I waited! Can't wait to dive back in.

The animations are definitely pretty stiff. Not sure how the characters look "sprite based" though

The video did not give me the impression that it was open world at all.

Well it isn’t just about your personal enjoyment of a game series. If the devs are tired of working on one series, one main protagonist for the past 10 years, then that’s all the reason they need to move on. If the devs aren’t inspired, then they aren’t going to make a good game.

@Neonridr

The original enhanced edition was released in 2015 and ran at (I believe) 1080p 30FPS. AFAIK it was never updated for the One X. Even the original enhanced edition was an underwhelming upgrade from the 2012 console version.

Obviously the increased options here are great. I’ll take what I can get. But 1080p for Dishonored (a title from 2012) is really disappointing for me. The Series X is perfectly capable of running that game at 4k 60. Or at the very least, 1440p.

The one I’m disappointed about here is Dishonored. It’s a 360 era title. My 5 year old GPU can run it at 4k 60 FPS. The Series X could easily handle a higher res output.

There have been way less popular Microsoft titles that received full 4k 60FPS backwards compatibility support. Yet Microsoft (who literally now owns Bethesda) can’t give us better results on a popular series like Dishonored? Boo

This is wrong. Anyone who thinks this is okay has an insane, warped sense of entitlement.
