Agreed, this is exactly what i was hoping for in previous installments, no need for the 3D, and swords, go back to roots, make it HD, make it clean, add a few new features here and there, characters, etc.

Agreed, but they (Sony) needed something that hardcore crowd would/willing to pay for potentially, that differentiates the service from regular PSN, other wise to me PSN+ sounds pretty much a Qore +, early access to demos, a few free games here and there (That expire when your membership do, etc).
As well if they decide to pack it in with all future PS3's...to speed up it's uptake...or else it'll fracture the market.
More Tech companies are behind 3D Technology, from TV makers, to PC makers, etc. So it's likely they'll want content aka Games to push this realm.

Not necessarily, it can be projected from something, or from the ground up, shot up to your eye level, think like Star Wars R2/D2 type of projection/holographic display,
I agree, I think something mounted on your head is cumbersome...it'll be something that is projected right front of your eyes, like a holographic display...not something you have to wear.

They might not tell, it'll look the same, but they need to clear the channel, cause if not, all these ps3 would be sitting at retails, and they wouldn't order their new model, which to them makes them a profit...
I mean that's what happened with the 360, they had stuffed the channel, in the earlier versions, that they had to do price cuts and crap to get rid of it, so they could send out the new models.
