Yeah but From aren't trying to compete against the likes of cod. They know their target audience and their sales expectations apply accordingly. The budgets for the Souls games reflect this. From know they wont sell gangbusters, but they know their fanbase and are guaranteed decent sales that match that budget. Accessability doesn't even come into it.
Tbh Fromsoft aren't competing against anyone really, they are in a league of their own.
@capps, having an easy mode in the Souls game would compromise the games. Its the whole point. The philosophy is the bigger the challenge the greater the reward. Not many games give you such a sense of triumph when you finally conquer that boss who has pwnd you like 30 times. Its fantastic.
Anyhow it'll never happen no matter how much people cry over it.

Nightmare of Mensis is near the end. Just a couple of bosses and then Gerhman. Also don't miss the bloodrock after the 1st boss, Mikolash. Just make sure you have plenty of sedatives. Also the chalices are optional. You don't need to do them to beat the game, but you do if you want to get the plat.

No just no. Most games have difficulty settings, fair enough. Ultimately its down to the developer to decide surely. Games like Bloodborne, Dark Souls etc are targetting a specific audience, Fromsoft know this and budget accordingly. Why should people who appreciate these type of games be deprived for the sake of 'casuals'. Answer is they shouldn't. Don't really see how an easy mode could be implemented anyhow, the game is based around its difficulty, having an easy mode would...

Good article. A great game is a great game regardless. Bloodborne is my goty and thats all that matters to me. It got a few awards, Eurogamer and Edge along with a few others, it wasn't completely ignored.
Bloodborne was definitely the first great game of this generation.
Tbh it looks like MS aren't happy with s'ware sales figures so are doing this to compensate.
Considering Rift is supposedly high end tech, it will probably require a decent rig. Regardless $600 plus for Occulus is still pretty steep tbh.
