I don't play online, so the only thing I really missed...was the fact that I wouldn't be able to download Outland' demo. That's pretty much it.
And it's not like there aren't games with a compelling story mode (like Mortal Kombat and Portal 2).

Konquest was an attempt at building a real single player story mode around a fighting game, similar to an RPG, while MK 9's story is composed of cutscenes and fights which is what it has always been.

I can understand it can be fun to walk around the different realms and see many characters of the franchise but it wasn't nearly as polished as MK 9's story mode.

No, that's not the point of X-Ray moves.
They are not supposed to give you such an advantage, because then it would mean your opponent's gameplay would be altered and therefore pulling off crazy combos would be harder for them.
The game's gameplay must stay the same throughout the fights to ensure everyone plays the same way and to balance each fighter based on their own moves.

well you see, Crash Bandicoot is my childhood, but I wouldn't touch anything that isn't made by Naughty Dog as everything that came out after Crash Team Racing ended up being disappointing and disrespectful to the original games.
But it can't really be compared if you take into account that some of those developing Duke Nukem Forever also worked on the series' previous titles.

The shooting does suck in the Legend trilogy as many reviewers pointed out and it didn't change when Underworld came out.
But then to me, Underworld is a failed attempt at making a good Tomb Raider game, it quickly became a disaster with an awful level design and a few gameplay glitches, oh and the story also. Oh well everything sucked about it, except for its Teaser Trailer.

I can't believe how awesome these guys are.
That's 2 Assassin's Creed games in 2 years, and they certainly aren't messing around. Of course E3 will give us a clearer picture of the greatness (or possible shortcomings) of this sequel, but the fact that we get to play (an old) Ezio and Altaïr is already something good => The story will probably be very interesting.
