It was fun for the first playthrough or two (the mini/meta games are really fun in my opinion) it was nice being able to pick gender and the skills were meh...i never bothered with Fable 3 though :P now THAT (to me) seemed gimmicky.
^ about my comment above...I didn't mean 30 hours of TOTAL play time being too long for a game...I was agreeing that if there is a "first 30 hours" of a game shouldn't take you that long to be able to know whether a game is right for you or not :)
30 hours is WAY TOO LONG!
The maximum I would say is maybe 8-12 (2-4 minimum like KonaBro stated) for myself to push myself through a game to judge it if I don't know anything about it. In addition it varies as well if it just has bad gameplay or a bad story...and it depends on what the hell you were doing in those 30 hours! :P
I still try to find out as much as I can about a game if I am interested in it without spoiling a whole lot so it leaves some sur...

People know what they are doing and if they know they are exploiting a game (single player, fine...but online...at your discretion). You should know you may pay the consequences. I am glad that people aren't getting away with doing it except for hearing about the possible coin floating around in the economy after that.

This might sound strange but high achieves like that I agree with entirely. And then there are the "super-secret" achievements LOL.
I honestly don't mind them as they might give you a reason to clear through the game again or who knows what. It depends on how they implement them though and what kinds of them there are :S. It's just something that shouldn't be considered part of the game like you said about promoting replay value.

I forgot about the MP/SP debate roflao. Some do multi-player correctly and others as stated by many other people is that it feels tacked on which isn't good whatsoever. It depends on how involved they make the multi-player, whether it was mostly SP or MP centered or anything else haha. I am not even going to start up about that! :P

For myself, Guild Wars 2 has done exactly that.
I haven't put much time into it (being responsible for other things needing to be done) but my time with the game has been amazing.
There are few games that have a replay factor and those are the kind of games I am looking to get. I do not want to pick up a game that after a single play-through I get bored or complete it entirely (unless it was THAT FREAKING GOOD)

Yes, I noticed the servers locked up, ONCe from trying to create a character...but was never kicked off and that was when they were just opened. Nothing ever since then.
No, The servers didn't fail to let people on, if so there's overflow and it still let's people play...it does need to be fixed, hopefully, but at least you don't have a wait time to PLAY.

Exactly what you don't want to worry about from a newly released system...or any system in general. Of course after being ages old it might kick the bucket, but it should not show any signs for concern before it's released and during the life of the system.
If anything I hope everything gets smoothed out and sounds like something that needs to get another once over look at what's going on.

You can pretty much always upgrade to digital deluxe from standard edition and it comes with the mini-pet of Rytlock in the game, so it really isn't too special.
For collector's edition, it is mostly the tangible stuff that I notice. I wish I could do so from standard edition but...oh well :) more money to put to...

Once we have internet speeds up to par for it (and probably without data caps), a solid platform that won't get shut down or anything too unstable and everything else needed (the only two I can think up at the moment XD) that is when we'll be able to support these types of medium.
We're doing fine with digital and some people don't really even enjoy doing THAT as some games have DRM and stupid protection methods attached to them.
