Sony has made multibillion dollar deals in both the video and audio and tech sectors. Most recently, Crunchyroll, Funimation and EMI Music.
Don't let yourself be fooled into thinking Sony is only PlayStation.
I don't understand why you guys are so happy about Microsoft buying Bethesda, they could have gotten every single game Bethesda makes and used that money to start 7 new billion dollar studios.
No one complained when they bought PlayGround, why because they were making games only for Microsoft. The issue is buying companies that were making multiplatform game for the past 20 years just to keep them off the rivals platform.
A person who has a lot of disposable income, $70 is nothing, for many others it means waiting for 3-6 months or whatever. I imagine the people who won't pay $70 didn't pay $60 either.
All I have to say is when this was first announced (by 2k not Sony) I was strongly against it. But unfortunately a lot of people defended the increase instead of standing in unison against it, so now the price is $70.
Unreal Engine which also works on PlayStation is using it. And AMD has stated that it works on all recent AMD hardware including the consoles, heck it even works on Nvidia so Switch games could likely use it as well.

In fact PS4 sold almost as many consoles in Japan and Microsoft sold Xbox Ones in all of Europe.
Yeah, you have to wonder if it's even worth the shipping costs for Microsoft to sell a hundred or so consoles every month. They should probably just pack it up at this point.
At least PS5 is off to a good start it's out tracking PS4 and I'm sure it would do even better if they could get more supply there. As soon as more games are released I'm sure it'll do just fine and get plenty of support from Japanese devs just like PS4 did.
"The gap between PS and Xbox is not “growing even wider” - it is far smaller than the gap between PS4 and XB1 after the disaster that was Xbox in 2013. Facts matter."
PS5 is selling more than double xbox month after month, and as time has gone on that monthly gap has been growing. It wasn't until 2015 that PS4 started selling double xbox.
And on top of that demand for PlayStation is significantly higher than xbox. The only thing keeping it...
