Wow, moving fast... faster than expected, but it's a step in the right direction.
I never supported the idea of consolidating the industry, but the tables have been set and this is the path the competition decided the industry would go in.
Yesterday's article trying to scare independents away from Sony makes a lot more sense. Rivals trying to make it harder for Sony to convince developers to join the fold now that Sony has chosen their time to mak...
Oh, spare me the nice guy drivel, that's the crap you put in the company handbook. If you work for a busy company, you prioritize your best earners. You aren't giving vacations and perks to the guy that sold a peanut all year.
In real big business, when time is limited, you prioritize earners. That's the real world, not fantasy la la land.
They are not partners Bluepoint is a partner Haven is a partner Kojima Productions is a partner, these are small indie developers who are self-publishing and earn almost nothing for Sony.
If you are in business (and good at your job), I guarantee you prioritize your biggest earners over your smallest earners. THAT IS HOW BUSINESS WORKS.
"That some indies can't even get a hold of people at Sony which is a pre-requisite for them to promote their games through discounts, trailers, and such? I guess that makes Sony really awesome in your eyes"
These people have low selling games, and they want to be treated the same as bigger publishers, but that's not how the world works. They need to sell...
"The timing of these Sony problems is kind of weird"
I know right, yesterday Sony buys an indie developer Housemarque and today the news is how Sony hates indies. It seems rather suspect, almost like a set-up.
This whole sale thing seems unreal. Sony almost always has 2 or 3 sales going on at once, with 1000s of games on offer at a time.
And as a consumer I don't give a crap about his indie company. I don't want Sony to have less sales or fewer games on offer so that his rinky dink game has less competition.
Right now Sony has Mid-Year Deals, Games Under $20, Black Desert is the Weekly Highlight game and PS Plus Exclusive Discounts.
How many indie developers are releasing games on PlayStation? You can't take the rants of two developers which equal less than 1% of the total number of indie developers and act like this is the whole picture, which is what you're doing.
Do you think Kena's developer, which had multiple showcases or how about Sifu which was part of the R&C State of Play just as two of many examples, would say PlayStation has been unhelpful?
So Sony sold 1.81 billion units of software by January 2020 that's more than 3x as much software as Microsoft had sold to that point. So clearly Sony is working, just because these people aren't selling well clearly does not mean that other publishers even indies are having trouble.
This isn't giving a full picture. I am certain you would find other developers who have had an entirely different experience, as clearly many indies have found their home on PlayS...
All I have to say is if you had experienced them both you would understand the difference, which you clearly don't
It doesn't matter how many motors they have for vibration, the functionality is different. Both a boat and an airplane move, that doesn't mean they work the same way.
"What is the difference between 3D Audio and Dolby Atmos? "
Atmos is positional, it's only processing the position of the source. Tempest can do things like real time ray traced audio and real time audio manipulation from hundreds of sources. For example, Tempest can make things that are around a corner sound different in real time as if they are reflected, or if you have a rainy scene, and you...
