Because a lot of third-party controllers are gimped in some of those ways. Most of them don't have a working PS button and use a USB dongle instead of bluetooth.
Rebuilding does not erase everything. It sometimes erases PSN messages and screws up music/video/photo *playlists*, but it does not delete any music/video/photo/save *files*.
Why are there so many articles like this? Ever heard of Tiger Woods '10? It even comes with one Motion+ attachment. I'm sure plenty of people buying this game have bought an extra attachment for 2-player action with separate Wii-motes

That's not how it works. You can download everything on PSN (except from the Video Store) an UNLIMITED number of times. You just can only use them on up to 5 activated consoles at a time. If you want to use it on a 6th system, you have to deactivate one.
I find it hard to believe that 11% of the population owns an HD-DVD player, but only 9% own a Blu-ray player.

It's probably just limited to start out. They'll probably open it up more or even completely after a while. No need for them to start the game out with a facepalm because they can't handle what they thought they could. They should work up slowly.

Speaking of the scanning objects thing, it's not even that impressive. All it does is captures an image of the object and replicates it on the system. It's definitely cool, but it's not impressive. The PS Eye can do this too.
Besides, if you watch the MS PR video again, notice that when the kid scans the skateboard, his hands are covering part of it, but somehow Natal magically knows the color of the part of the board underneath his hands. I call BS on that.

But part of the problem with using these motion controls is that you won't be able to see what you're doing half the time. Do you want to strain your neck looking up at the TV so you can see what you're doing while you're lying on the floor, trying to snipe?
And how do you turn around in an FPS and still be able to see the TV?
Kinda like the splash you get when you drop a load?
People are already pissed because BC was promised and then taken away. Do you really think they'll add it in for certain models again? Don't you think think that would infuriate people even more?
If they're going to add it, it should be via software for all models.
For the last time, it has nothing to do with Sony's servers! I routinely download from PSN at > 15mbps. It is either something with your network configuration or your ISP may be throttling traffic on certain ports. This has been proven with Comcast.
I totally agree. Competing companies often collaborate/trade with one another to meet their goal of making money.
It's like the people who say that you can't install Windows on the PS3 because it's Sony vs. Microsoft, when it's really just because Windows wasn't written to run on that architecture.

It's a combination of things, but mostly stems from the rumored 45nm Cell = more efficient = less cooling components required, smaller fans, smaller case, lower-powered PSU, smaller packaging, lower shipping costs, etc.
