Yeah I know, I have an SSD in my PS3. However, it will age faster because PS3 (and presumably PS4) is not optimized for it and won't do any of the housekeeping that an SSD needs.
Fortunately, SSD tech is coming down in price. With PlayNow even being usable for disk-based media, methinks I'll get a 500Gb SSD for mah PS4!
Bottlenecks are about the efficiency of a setup, not its reliability.
NextBox and PS4 will automatically have bottlenecking just because they didn't adopt SSD technology.

I'd feel wrong unplugging my PS3 right after the credits roll and dusting off for the PS4 setup. That would be kinda like Christopher Robin taking Pooh out for a last walk through the Hundred-Acre-Wood and then dropping him in the attic right after getting home.

You have to press the "jump" button to ascend those kelp-looking scroll thingeys. But it is possible to beat the game without using any mana from the wanderer's scarf.
Edit: Well, I guess that's true also if you use the costume with regenerating mana. Unless you mean not jumping AT ALL, not just refraining from using scroll mana.
