and you come across as a hater with your comments
3 integer cores with a vector unit slapped on = just that a SLAPPED together architecture. They really thought they had a leg up on Sony by bribing IBM to sell them the PPU design aswell. Not realizing that they had only seen half the equation while Sony,Toshiba and IBM went ahead and designed the SPU architecture in secret from there on out. This massive difference in gaming quality is the result.
Sony knows how to make consoles while MS just plays catch up. Simple as that.
lol Gwen Stefani rocks
I call BS on this, the email looks very fake.
only 2 days left to KZ2!!!!!
are you guys excited?
btw what is "the wheelman"? lol
porting from PS3 to 360 is like taking drawers full of clothes and dumping them all in one chest. The opposite is taking a chest full of clothes and organizing them into drawers. Which one do you think takes longer but ultimately makes life easier when you need to get dressed?
right because none of us know that it takes 9 floats to make one polygon? group those floating points into groups of 3 and you have VOILA............VECTORS
go away TROLL you will only get pounced on by those of us who do know what we are talking about.
oh dear here we go
this is clearly someone with an agenda folks, hoping to prey on those with little knowledge of what it actually takes to make games work.
Vector units are useless for gaming huh? Is that why they GET PACKED onto all GRAPHICS CARDS? Im doing my best to be civil here because you are clearly a TROLL.
so where is the 360's EIB?
Flex I/O controller?
XDR ram to push all this data to the SPU's then back to the RSX once its cooked?
this is what people with knowledge on the subject mean when they say that its just 3 cores slapped together with no real plan for how to work them in tandem.
you ask silly questions about multiplats while at the same time ignoring alot of the highly technical posts that have been made here.
You are wayyyy out of your depth on this subject and will just make yourself look foolish if you continue trying to talk with the bigboys.
oh I know, I have been programming for a living for 7 years and I have an overall knowledge of the what the cell does. Digging into this puppy and its architecture has already become a college course in most schools.
very interesting posts Ju, I had my suspicions about the Cell's EIB being crucial to achieving real time rendering speeds through and SPU pipeline. The question is wether this is a consecutive or concurrent pipeline meaning you could have two SPU's rendering the scene and the next two doing post processing. There's really all sorts of ways you can go with this and thats without even handing off to the RSX's internal shaders and vector cores. A properly designed engine utilizing both the Cell'...
lol
I swear the internet must come here and read our comments, I have been talkin about this very thing for the last week. Anyone can go look up my comment history to see Im not lying. As expected they are taking what he said and giving you half-truths. Shippy himself said that once Microsoft came into the picture Sony started mandating secret meetings all the time. This is where they designed the SPU's and its architecture while at the same time Robbie Bach sat on the other end ...
Im not fluent but I can decipher french, and basically lachance is being a douche saying that english is for simpletons, btw I dont think ANYBODY cares that you say you live in Lyon or go to school there.
since common sense is the special of the day then lets use some.
Sony has the MOST first party studios, peter dille even states that Sony employs more people than both competitors combined. Maybe its logical to conclude that they spend most of their budgest actually creating great exclusives than advertising rushed mediocre ones?
yes Im lookin at you Halo3.
5 years ago when this whole lost exlcusives thing started after MS announced GTA:4 for 360, I pondered the situation a bit and concluded that these once great franchises had run their course and had basically become LEFTOVERS that Sony didn't care if MS got. They realized this generation was going to be a battle against Microsoft's wallet, a losing battle at the time.First party exclusives means that MS can't touch them this generation, next generation, the one after that and the one after th...
oh don't get me wrong, I like cell shaded games. To come out and say that they will graphically run over more traditionally rendered games that are going for realism is just silly.
coming up with a list of requirements for your next console is not that hard. just look at where your current hardware fell short, processing power, storage limit, GPU etc. and you already have a shopping list for your next design. It really makes you wonder what MS was thinking designing around last gen architecture. Imagine a world where you have 2 companies that innovate equally, The industry could be even bigger than it is now. Personally I don't like MS' strategy of trying to carve up th...
lol why don't you play the opening scene in Heavenly Sword where you look off into a vast field surrounded by hills where you then see THOUSANDS of invaders pour out to attack you and you have to take them out with a catapult? I think the 360 would explode if it tried to run a scene that massive with that many enemies on screen.
don't evaluate an entire article based on my analysis, go read the interview. I actually went ahead and scanned the page so no one can say I am making stuff up.
is their a size limit to images? I attached a scan of the GI page but I dont see it now.
Thats really cheap why buy if your not going to put time in to the game.
