To be able to see the difference you generally have to compare the same game bro. A more clear and crisp doesn't mean higher res, if a game was provided in 1600x900p and you didn't have another reference you would not be able to see the difference or know the difference. our eyes don't count pixels.
The ps2 was the best because of all the great 3rd party support it had. GTA and Metal Gear alone were one of the main reasons people purchased the ps2 as good as the sony exclusives were those 2 series were guaranteed quality.
I think it was determined long ago that the ps4 is the console that has more power. However the xbox one can provide great visuals as well just at a lower res. The only thing MS has to do is pump out good looking games with great gameplay and that will be more than enough for them to contend. At the end of the day it's all about the games. This time around the xbox one is the ps2 and the ps4 is the xbox as far as power is concerned but lets see if MS can push out enough games to set itsel...
For me it's bioware, Bethesda, Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Bungie these teams are really solid.

I have been waiting for LO2 for a lifetime lol, would definitely pick up and xbox one for that game.
A next gen (Halo or Gears) can definitely move systems I don't have an xbox one yet but when the price is right and depending on what they do with these franchises I will be all over it. I know many people who are waiting for it to drop in price and then the fun will begin.
I will also mention Fable with hope that they can make it what it's suppose to be.
The only reason people would be comparing the resolution would be on 3rd party games. If MS can produce some compelling exclusives then the resolution wont matter since it's not something that you'll be able to play elsewhere.
MS has dug themselves into a hole with this console, many people jumped ship and not because of any sony exclusives, because most major sales are from third parties and so far the best way to experience them besides PC is definitely on the ps4....
They need a price cut and soon. The word is out that the xbox one is underpowered compared to the ps4 and it costs more money. It's definitely not a good thing a new halo or gears might do the trick but the price is still a major issue.
I'm guessing it's due to piracy fears. Not sure why they would put it out on the Wii U software doesn't sell very well on there.

gameplay looks horrible way too stiff.
Uncharted 2 was one of the first gems last Gen probably one of the greatest games I have ever played, the first was a nice experience number 3 I couldn't finish. But what they did with Uncharted 2 and The last of us was simply amazing and if you like games that know how to incorporate a great story into the gameplay I think you'll agree.
The only people it can hurt is naughty dog, if they don't keep delivering the same type of experience. Every time I pick up one of their games I'm expecting a game with great gameplay and even better story.
You don't need to spend 400 dollars on your pc to outperform a ps4 if you already have one just buy yourself an updated graphics card from 2 -300 dollars and you're set.

Not many games this gen will be locked at 60 fps that's for sure, even on pc you're not going to get that unless you're looking to spend some serious money on dual gpu's.
This game looks fantastic.
Killzone keeps getting closer to $20.00 I think I'll wait a few more months. It shouldn't be much longer.
