They did before with GTA IV. They DID have contracts. Square Enix too did that with FFXIII and could do it with Versus XIII.
Why not have boxes of the size of the disk instead; I mean, just like CDs. I don´t get why the boxes have to be cut off the back, when they could just make a smaller, nicer case.

Are you sure MS isn't aiming for that with Natal? All we have seen from Natal is that red ball MINI-GAME. Natal will be full of them. Will they have hardcore games? Probably, but they even said ( and I will find the link) that at least the first wave of Natal games WILL be casual, family-friendly games, which there is a high probability it means MINI-GAMES!...
but it is definitely weird how MS haven´t showed anything at all. It might be hype-building, it might be that they are not sure, so hopefully they clear things up on E3.
Off Topic: I really think that 3D is the "thing" that is going to stay, and not the motion controllers. Nintendo is implementing it in their 3DS, Sony is implementing it too in the PS3, Blu-Ray movies, TV, etc. A lot of people might not like it, but I think this will be the one to stay.
Sony already said they will bundle move with the PS3. You will have the option to buy a PS3 with DualShock 3 or Move controller, not sure with both, and not sure either if this will include the PS Eye too.
why haven't Nintendo made a proper Pokemon game for a console? I would love to see a full 3D game where you explore, and have battles like Pokemon Stadium-style (just better).
Mario and Zelda were great games when coming to a 3D era, I think Pokemon would work great too.

I think you are right, my guess is that Nomura is to Square Enix as Miyamoto is to Nintendo. Everything that happens with their games, they are in complete control and very aware of it. If the game goes multiplatform, then Nomura gladly accepted, I really don't think they will force him or threaten him to make it for the other console. (unless after the announcement, you read a press release that he leaves the company).

The situation with Final Fantasy Versus XIII I think, is very different. When FFXIII went multiplatform, the first concern was the status of VersusXIII, and they confirmed, and reiterated that VersusXIII would stay exclusive. They then, released at least 2 trailers reiterating further the exclusivity to the PS3.

I don´t think is a contradiction, wht I got from there, is that they have the advantage to deliver the content on the disc, instead of DLC (that´s what they want-from the interview-) but if they do DLC then the hard-drive in every console is another advantage...
