That's funny cuz to me GT is to cars what Madden is to football. With sims, you have to be into what they are simulating for it to be fun. I find GT fun cuz I'm kind of a gear head while on the other hand, Madden is "Maddeningly" boring cuz I'm not that into football.
If you apply this to the movie industry, low ticket sales, no matter how awesome a movie is, is usually seen as a flop. Even if it ekes past the movies budget and turns somewhat of a profit, it is seen as a bomb.

i'm a PS360 owner and if I didn't have a 360 already I would have bought one for Gears. Games should be exclusive to one system at least just to maximize the potential of that system. I don't think MGS4 would have looked as awesome as it did if it had been multiplatform.

I feel that now in an effort to further nickle and dime us, games that used to be fully featured are now gimped and enhanced with DLC. There was a time when the SF4 costumes would have been included on the disc. There was a time when WWE game actually came with the Legends roster.
