huh? if anything, the abilities of the ps4/xb1 would be ON DISPLAY with a bigger map. Who wants smaller levels just so you can have slightly better gfx?

they're marketing these towards the very same people you just described - who don't want to mess with building their own, who just want to plug it in and play. Nothing about steambox requires you to open it up and upgrade anything.
it's definitely harder than the tiger games, but those were always too easy and hand-holding anyway.

I agree about the driving, Ezz. GTA4 felt more realistic, like the cars had actual weight.
"What's the hardware?" The hardware is whatever you choose to put in it, no different from any other pc.
"loosen their grip on the os market" -- wait, has Valve released an OS before?
